Before Irvin could finish, I cut him off with a sarcastic smile. “You’d better hurry and take your precious Julianne to the hospital! Don’t waste any more time, or she might not make it!”
He stared at me, shocked at my lack of guilt or remorse. The disappointment in his eyes was almost laughable. Without another word, he picked up Julianne and rushed out, leaving as quickly as he’d appeared.
Once they were gone, Mr. Holland turned to me with a sharp glare and let out a cold snort. “You have such big round eyes, how could you have been so blinu?”
I couldn’t deny it. I really had been blind before.
“Do you remember what I told you back then? When I tried to warn you about him?”
He didn’t wait for me to answer, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “Oh, that’s right. You said, ‘We’re in love, Mr. Holland! He’ll love me forever. Just wait and see how happy I’ll be!“”
I was at a loss for words.
He scoffed. “This is the happiness you wanted to show me? That’s truly inspiring.”
I wanted to shrink into my seat, but when he saw my pitiful expression, his harsh tone softened.
“Forget it,” he muttered, shaking his head. “Once this is over, I’ll introduce you to a few brilliant and classy guys. Surround yourself with the best, and you won’t fall for losers again.”
The university had recently convinced him to set up a social media account, and he’d picked up some modern lingo.
I couldn’t help but grin at his attempt. “Well then, I’ll hold you to that after I get my divorce certificate!”
At the mention of divorce, his face turned serious. “If he’s this bold about fawning over another woman in front of you, who knows what disgusting things he’s done behind your back? Do you want me to introduce you to some law professors who can help you hit him with a divorce case and take him to the cleaners?”
I shook my head with a small laugh. “It’s not that easy. Technically, he hasn’t cheated.”
Mr. Holland frowned but didn’t argue further.
We decided to switch restaurants to shake off the bad energy from our earlier encounter. Since we were still near the university, we ended up bumping into one of the computer science professors and his group of star students.
Mr. Holland, ever the opportunist, quickly agreed to join them for dinner after noticing how sharp–and good–looking–those
students were.
As we sat down, he leaned over and gave me a knowing look, his meaning clear–look at these talented young men and forget about that piece of trash you married.
I couldn’t help but laugh.
And honestly, he wasn’t wrong.
These students were brilliant and full of life. Just being around their youthful energy felt like a breath of fresh air.
One of them, in particular, caught my attention when the computer science professor proudly mentioned cracked the firewall of AS Group and had already been offered a position at the world’s top internet comp

Hearing this, I suddenly remembered the mysterious disappearance of my video files. Without hesitation, I pulled out my phone and asked the student to take a look.
He fiddled with my phone for a few seconds before confirming, “Yeah, your phone’s been infected with a virus. Based on how it
