Love You Like I Used To Forget It (Millie Bridge) novel Chapter 97

Chapter 97

Irvin fell silent. He didn’t deny it.

Other than that incident, I had never done anything wrong. Nothing immoral, nothing illegal.

Eight years,I said, my voice firm. We’ve known each other for eight years. Loved each other for seven. And yet, you never once trusted me. Someone shows you a video, and instead of investigating, you just believe it. You accept that I’m capable of something so disgusting. If someone like you claims to love me, am I not supposed to feel disgusted?

From the way his attitude toward me shifted after Julianne showed him the video, it was clear he hadn’t bothered to dig deeper. He just accepted it as the truth.

Irvin tugged at his tie, his frustration showing. Emilia, you can’t keep blaming others when things go wrong. It’s not just about trustit’s about the choices you’ve made. Sure, you’ve never done anything immoral or illegal before. You’re a good person, kind to everyone. But that doesn’t mean you’d treat Julianne the same way. It doesn’t mean you wouldn’t hurt her.

He paused, his voice growing sharper. From the moment Julianne came into your family, you’ve been hostile toward her. You resented her for taking your parentsattention. You targeted her.

And look at the way your family treats you now. You’re their biological daughter, their flesh and blood, and yet, they’ve sided with her. Don’t you think, for even a second, that maybe it’s because of you? Maybe it’s not about Julianne at all, but about something you did?

If you’re as innocent as you claim, why would they choose someone who isn’t even their own child over you?

Emilia,he continued, his voice softening like he was trying to reason with me, just admit it. You were jealous. You couldn’t stand Julianne being around me, so you lashed out.

You made a mistake. It happens. People make mistakes when they’re young, especially when they’re in love. You were scared she’d take me from you, and you let that fear get the best of you.

But it’s not too late. Admit what you did. Apologize to Julianne publicly, and we can move past this. We can let it go and start

over.

And honestly, Julianne even said you don’t have to apologize if you don’t want to. She just wants you to stop targeting her. That’s all

Before he could continue, I cut him off. She said that? Do you believe her?

Irvin froze, his lips parting as if he wanted to say something, but the words wouldn’t come.

He wanted to say he believed her, I could tell. But even he couldn’t bring himself to say it out loud.

I let out a bitter laugh.

Irvin was no fool. A man who had risen to dominate the business world in just four years couldn’t be naive. Deep down, he knew. He knew Julianne wasn’t as pure and innocent as she pretended to be. He knew she didn’t see me as her dear sister. He knew she wanted me dead.

And yet, he didn’t see her actions as malicious. He didn’t see her as wrong.

Instead, he saw me as the problem.

To him, Julianne’s words were gospel. If she said I was targeting her, then it must be true.

How could I not feel disgusted by someone like that claiming to love me?

It happened. Do you really

After a long pause, Irvin finally said, I know Julianne isn’t as forgiving as she claims to be. I know she’s not entirely blameless in what’s happened between the two of you. Butyou ruined her life, Emilia. She was so young think she can just let it go? That she can be completely pure after something like that? Nobody could.
