The noise Charlotte made when she sat down attracted Oliver's attention. He looked at her up and down as she was no longer wearing pajamas but a delicate coat as if she was about to go out, and even her hair was tied neatly.
Oliver felt there was something strange, but he still looked away indifferently and continued to read the magazine as if nothing had happened.
After all the dishes were served, the servant filled a bowl of soup for both of them and then left. Oliver didn't like the servants to be around during the meal.
There were only Charlotte and Oliver left in the big dining room. It was so quiet that the air seemed to have become solid, but Charlotte acted as if Oliver was not there and she just focused on eating.
Charlotte seemed to have a good appetite today as she hadn't eaten much these days. Now she picked up a full plate of lobster, and a great amount of spicy crayfish was stuffed into her mouth.
Oliver frowned and asked, "Are you starving?"
Judging from the way she ate, people who didn't know them might think that the Shen family was so poor that they didn't even give food to people living in their house.
Charlotte didn't want to talk to him at all, but since he had spoken first, she couldn't continue to ignore him. She swallowed the food in her mouth and replied politely but distantly, "Yes, my family is poor, and I can't afford such good food. It's rare for me to have so much delicious food, so I think I should eat more to express my appreciation for your hospitality. I'm afraid that if I don't eat much, you will think that I don't respect you."
Oliver sneered after hearing her. It was hard to tell what he was thinking from his expression. He just pushed the plate of shrimp in front of him to her and said with a faint smile, "In that case, just eat more."
Charlotte was slightly stunned. She stared at him vigilantly, and then took it without hesitation and poured all the shrimp into her bowl.
After eating about half a bowl of shrimp, her plan seemed to have worked. She felt itchy all over her body, and she felt like her throat was blocked. She seemed to have choked and almost couldn't breathe.
Oliver glanced at her and asked indifferently, "What's wrong?"
"I..." With a pained look on her face, she staggered to her feet and fell into his arms before she took a step forward. She gasped heavily. "Hospital... send me to... hospital..."
After saying that, she closed her eyes and fell down. Before she fainted, a trace of triumph flashed in her eyes.
Oliver frowned and stared at the woman in his arms for a while. Then he called the servant in a low voice, "Ask the driver to send Miss Charlotte to hospital."
"Yes, sir."
A few minutes later, Charlotte lied down in the back seat of the car. The driver started the engine and drove her away.
Staring at the direction the car left, Oliver pondered for a moment and turned back to his room.
As expected, ten minutes later, he received a message from the driver.
"Mr. Oliver, something's wrong. I have sent Miss Charlotte to the hospital, but when I came back after paying for the doctor's bills, she was missing!"
