Loveless Marriage novel Chapter 197

Christian didn't say anything and just calmly see her off out of the door.

In the past, she wasn't surprised at all. As long as nothing happened to her, he wouldn't care where she went. But now, if he were like this, her heart was like millions of ants crawling about.

Was he not afraid of what Shawn would do anything to her?

The car had gone far, but Isabella's gaze was still outside the window. John who sat beside her asked, "Miss Jones, what's wrong?"

Isabella retracted her gaze, and shook her head, "Nothing."

Then she added, "Have you beared what I told you before?"

John nodded, "Yep, I do."

Then Isabella no longer spoke.

When the car arrived, it was already dark.

Isabella got off the car, looked around, and then looked at the restaurant in front of her.

There were two Japanese red lanterns by the door, which gave the place a serene feeling under the neon lights.

Without hesitating, she pushed open the door and walked in.

It was a Japanese restaurant with an elegant and quiet environment. The lighting was warm, and even the music played was a Japanese style.

When the female waiter in kimono saw them, she quickly walked over and greeted them in English, which wasn't very fluent, "Hello, Miss, Sir, how many of you are there?"

Isabella said, "We have already had an appointment." Then she showed her the text message Shawn's assistant sent to her.

"Oh, okay. Please follow me."

The two of them followed the waiter through a series of low and quiet corridors until they ended in a spacious room. Other than the basic framework, the surroundings were only covered with bamboo curtains.

"Miss Jones." The bamboo curtain in the opposite room was opened, and Shawn's secretary came out, smiling at her.

Isabella politely nodded to her, "Is Mr. Simons inside?"

"No, he is over here." She walked over and opened the bamboo curtain of the room opposite. "Miss Jones, please."

Isabella slightly tilted his head and saw a man who was kneeling in front of a table. Probably because he heard the commotion, he turned his head and smiled gently at her, "You're here."

Isabella smiled and nodded at him, then changed her shoes and went in.

John wanted to follow along, but the secretary reached out to stop him, pointed to the room opposite of them, and smiled, "Sir, this way please."

Isabella was slightly startled. She looked at John for a moment, then walked back, and intentionally teased, "Give me the laptop, and you can go over. It's rare to have such a pretty Miss accompanying you, so you must grasp the opportunity."

John blushed and handed the laptop over.

Putting down the curtain, Isabella walked towards Shawn and slowly sat down on her knees as well. She smiled lightly, "Mr. Simons, you've spent too much money on this dinner. I can't really treat you on a same one if you go to Brighton next time."

Shawn immediately laughed heartily at her teasing. His handsome face was refined and enchanting as he said, "Of course I should do my best since I wanna treat my friend."

"Thank you for your for understanding, Mr. Simons. The next time you go to Brighton, I will directly take you to a fine dining," kidded Isabella, glancing at the table in front of him that was filled with extremely fine and luxurious dishes.

"Whatever you want, it's up to you."

Shawn smiled. He wore a dark blue shirt and a tie that was neatly arranged in a gentleman's manner. Suddenly, his gaze swept over the beige sleeveless coat before he smiled and said, "There's a heater here. You can take off your jacket. It'll be heavy with perspiration later."

Isabella lowered her head to look at the clothes on her body.
