Chapter 104 

“Conrad, what are you doing?” 

I looked at Conrad’s outfit. Actually, I already knew what he was up to. He had to be here for work, but I still asked him such an obvious question. 

I simply thought the situation was funny. This was all because of Brandon’s presence in my life. Was it necessary to mobilize the entire Gildon family? 

The most ridiculous thing was that Conrad had been living outside of the country for a few years. Shouldn’t he return to whichever country he was working in? How did he even get into Gildon Corporation? 

Did this mean he was going to work in the country long–term? 

“I’m here for work. I’ll be in your care from now on, Ms. Crown.” As expected, Conrad extended his hand toward me. 

Although I was taken aback, I also reached out, touching his fingers.” Welcome, uh…” 

I hesitated, as I didn’t know how I should address him. If he was working here, that meant that we were colleagues. Hence, I shouldn’t call him by his first 

name. 

“Just call me ‘Conrad‘ like always.” He smiled gently. 

“It’s better to draw a line between our personal and professional lives. Mr. Chris has always required this of us.” I decided to draw out my trump card, 

Chris. 

Although I didn’t know whose idea it was to place Conrad here, Chris definitely knew of it. After all, he was the company’s executive president. 

If the company appointed a random employee, Chris would probably be clueless about it. However, Conrad was the second–in–line to inherit Gildon Corporation as Chris‘ younger brother. It was impossible for Chris to be unaware of his employment here. 

Conrad also understood my underlying message. He answered, “I’m the executive director.” 

What kind of position was this? I had been in this company for years, but this was the first time I heard of this role. 

Conrad explained, “I’m temporarily in charge of following up and wrapping up the progress of the amusement park. Besides, I studied mechatronics. Perhaps I can help out on this recent issue.” 

After hearing this, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of exasperation. Conrad was probably not here to help, but to keep an eye on Brandon and me. 

It seemed that both Chris and Conrad didn’t want me to be close to Brandon. 

Brandon came over. “That’s great! I suggested to Ms. Crown that we shorten our deadline last night. Now that we have a new helping hand, we should be able to finish the work faster than expected!” 

He was even more accepting of Conrad than I was. 

Hooked at Brandon in confusion. 

He looked back at me and said, “Let’s get a move on!” 

Then, turning to Conrad, he said, “Mr. Gildon, since this is your first day, you! should get familiarized with our work procedures and our most urgent, current issues You are also an expert in this field! 

“When you’ve got an idea of how things work, we’ll distribute the workload. I’ be working with Ms. Cown as a team, while you can team up with Ms. Spraggins.” 

Hearing this, I turned toward Brandon in shock. Was he possessed by a CEO’s spirit? 

How did he have the audacity to assign work to Conrad? He even ensured that Conrad had no way to monitor Brandon and me! 

Suddenly, I realized that although Brandon looked like a proper and fair person, he was actually rather manipulative. 

Conrad opened his mouth as if he wanted to protest, but Brandon didn’t give him the chance. 

Brandon looked at me and said, “Let’s get to work.”
