Chapter 185 

“Not yet. She’s made an appointment. Let me check the timing of her slot.” After seconds, Lisa informed. me, “11:00 am.” 

It was 10:00 am now. “Did she mention why?” I asked Lisa. 

“No, she just said she didn’t want it anymore and signed the papers alone. Since the baby is more than three months old and has taken shape, she’ll need an induced abortion,” Lisa explained. 

Although I’d never been a mother, I felt uneasy hearing those words. “Try to postpone it. I’ll contact Chris 

now.” 

“Are you sure you wanna get involved?” asked Lisa, 

I paused momentarily. “She decided to have an abortion after meeting me last night. Who knows what Chris might think about me if I don’t inform him? Plus. This baby was lan’s only bloodline left in this world. 

I hung up the call with Lisa and phoned Chris, but he had yet to answer. I assumed he ignored my calls because of my rejection. 

Just as I contemplated calling him with another number, he picked up the call with an icy tone. “Hello?” 

“Jewel is having an abortion at Lisa’s hospital.” I went straight to the point. Whats 

Chris sounded shocked. 

“The procedure is happening in an hour. Quick, you might be able to make it in time.” I hung up the phone thereafter. 

Despite informing Chris, I continued to feel unsettled about it and headed to the hospital. When I parked my car, I saw Chris rushing from the parking lot to the obstetrics and pediatrics department building. He was visibly anxious and scared. 

Similarly, I hopped out of my car and rushed in the same direction. However, Lisa stopped me before I could go to the consultation room. “Has she changed her mind?” I asked her. 

Lisa didn’t respond and merely pulled me to the side. There’s tea. You should listen first.” 

When she dragged me near the emergency exit, I could hear an argument between Jewel and Chris. 

“Why are you aborting the baby? That’s lan’s last remaining bloodline. Who told you you could do that?” Chris roared. 

“You should understand why I’m doing this. I want to be with you–that’s why, Jewel spoke bluntly, which was a stark contrast to her usual gentleness. 

Chris stayed silent, and she continued with a tone softer than earlier. “Chris, I know your family will never accept my baby, and neither will lan’s parents. Since that’s the case, what’s the point of keeping it?”
