Chapter 244 

Brandon asked, “What’s going on?” 

“Brandon!” 

We both spoke at the same time. 

“You said you were leaving today, didn’t you? Where are you going?” I asked. Because I had run to him, my breath was heavy. 

His brow furrowed when he saw me suddenly jump out of the car. Upon hearing my question, he relaxed, and a smile spread across his face. “Are you afraid I’m going to run away?” 

His teasing made my cheeks flush, and I feigned annoyance. “Where are you really going?” 

“I’m not leaving for now.” Brandon didn’t directly answer my question. 

I frowned. “Hmm?” 

“I was originally going to leave because my work here was done and there wasn’t anything keeping me. But things are different now,” Brandon said. Then, he stepped closer and bent down slightly. “Because now I have a girlfriend.” 

The way he said it sent a jolt through my entire body. I took a step back and turned away since I couldn’t -bear it.

But before I could move, Brandon tightened his grip on my wrist and pulled me forcefully embrace. 

His chin resorted on the top of my head. His voice was husky as he said, “I wouldn’t just disappear. If I were to leave, I’d tell you first. You’d have to agree before I could go.” 

My heart was pounding, and my whole body felt hot. So early in the morning… Such deep affection was almost too much to handle. 

Just as I was about to say something in response, a voice behind us suddenly said, “Oh my goodness. 

The sound startled me, and I quickly pulled away from Brandon’s embrace. But it seemed to be too late. The person had already seen us 

The voice continued in a teasing tone, “I was wondering who was cuddling so early in the morning. Turns

It was Lara. Lara and the other neighbors already considered Brandon and me a couple, but it was still quite embarrassing to be seen in such a private moment. 

“Mrs. Bishop, you’re early,” Brandon greeted her warmly. He seemed completely at ease compared to my embarrassment. 

“Not earlier than you,” Lara replied as if she knew Brandon exercised early every day. She then tilted her head toward me and added, “It’s rare to see you up so early, Maddie.”
