Brandon didn’t mind me pulling down the corners of his mouth and continued to say, “Do you know how. you said it?” 

“I don’t know. Anyway, you’re just making things up.” I didn’t want to admit that I had done so many embarrassing things. 

“You said that it was a stamp. Since you kissed and stamped me, I was yours. When you grew up, you’d get married to me. You told me not to marry anyone else too,” said Brandon before lowering his head. 

“Mae, I listened to you and didn’t date anyone or like other women. I didn’t even hold hands with other women before. 

“I waited for you without wavering. So, you need to be responsible for me.“” 

When Brandon said that, he sounded pitiful. It was as if I had to feel sorry for him if I said no: 

I always thought that Chris was my childhood friend. only realized now that I was wrong. Brandon was my real childhood friend.
