Chapter 28 

It took me four hours to get to Amaty by high–speed rail. The city lights were just coming on. It wasn’t as bustling as Hilcord. But it was still brightly lit, exuding the beauty of a small town. 

Lisa’s call came on time. “Are you there yet? Have you found a place to stay?” 

She didn’t expect me to leave so hastily. When she asked where I was going, I gave her the address and the time of my train ticket. 

Lisa asked if I was leaving in such a hurry to avoid Chris. She thought I was afraid that Chris would cling to me. 

I told her that she was wrong and that Chris wouldn’t do that. He was probably angry now. After all, I had stood him up. 

Now, it seemed that I was right. Since the time he had contacted me to ask why I didn’t go to register for our marriage, he hadn’t sent me a single text or 

made a call.

“Why not? It’s getting late. You should find a good hotel in a safe location. Check the closet and look under the bed before sleeping. Make sure to lock the windows and the door,” Lisa instructed. 

I laughed, feeling touched because I still had her care. “Alright, I will. I promise.”
