I wondered if Zack indulged in such luxury when no one was watching. My imagination ran wild, as it often did, and I found myself lost in thought. 

“Come sit here.” Arthur beckoned. 

I walked over and let the young ladies who had tended to Arthur do the same for me. They poured me tea, their movements graceful and delicate. While I was not used to being waited on, I could not 

disrespect Arthur by dismissing the help under his roof 

“You’re not married?” Arthur asked as he took a sip of tea. 

“No,” I replied. 

He chuckled. “When are you marrying into the Gildon family?” 

I was surprised he hadn’t heard about my break–up with Chris or that Eden had wanted to make me his wife. I wondered how Arthur would react if I had agreed to marry Eden and shown up here as his future daughter–in–law. 

“I won’t be getting married anytime soon,” I said frankly. 

Arthur was not surprised at all. He merely smiled as he asked, “Where are you working?” 

1 should have expected such astuteness from a man his age. He had deduced that I was not working at Gildon Corporation after I said I wouldn’t be marrying into the Gildon family. 

I kept my answer vague. “It’s a small company. Not that someone as important as Arthur would know even if I told him. 

“What kind of man are you looking for?” Arthur seemed intent on asking me about my personal life, indirectly refusing to answer my initial question, 

I didn’t know if he was playing a game or making casual conversation, so I replied honestly, ‘I have a boyfriend.” 

“Oh.” He smiled and brought the cup to his lips. 

He said nothing after that, but my patience had already run out. I pressed again. “Mr. Griffins, do you know Dominic Crown?” 

Arthur shook his head, “I’m afraid I don’t remember.” 

My heart plunged to my stomach as I fished out the contract I had found in my father’s folder. extended the contract to Arthur and said, “Perhaps you should take a look at this.” 

I wanted to ask why the deal that had fallen through had been signed off and given to Zack. I also wanted to know if this contract had anything to do with my father’s death and whether someone had orchestrated the car crash so they could get their hands on the contract instead.
