Chapter 302 

By the time I was wrapped up in a towel and carried back to bed, I realized I was perhaps a succubus Indeed. I also discovered, once again, that Brandon and his military–trained principles were unshakeable. For all Brandon did was give me a bath and nothing else. 

I had tested his boundaries before, but I hated losing and did not stop provoking him. “I bet you just can’t get it up, Brandon.” 

That had to be the final straw. No man could remain calm in the face of such a direct insult to their manhood. Alas, Brandon was no ordinary man, and he pinned me to the bed as he warned, “That’s enough from you. Don’t try to provoke me because it won’t work.” 

He saw through my filthy thoughts and lust–driven schemes. 

“That’s very hurtful of you to say,” I grumbled, pouting as I pulled the covers over me in disappointment. 

He pried the covers away from my face and reassured me gently, “It’s not that I can’t get it up or that you aren’t attractive. I just don’t want to hurt you, so I’d rather wait until you’ve fully recovered.” 

I blushed. “And what if I never recover? Are you going to take an oath of celibacy then?” 

Brandon’s lips curled in amusement. “Even if the oath is eternal, yes.” 

I stared at him incredulously, pulled the covers over my head, and refused to speak to him again. However, he pulled me into his arms, blanket and all. 

“I won’t let that happen. I promise,” Brandon murmured! 

My face warmed. He planted soft, lazy kisses on me as he said in a low, hoarse voice, “Wait here. I’m going to take a shower.” 

I bet it was a cold shower. 

No sooner had the thought crossed my mind did Brandon volunteer the clarification, albeit jokingly, “A cold shower.” 

I was speechless. Unshakeable principles indeed. He would sooner catch hypothermia than hurt me. 

My nose prickled as I called out to Brandon’s retreating figure, “Brandon?” 

He turned around. “Yes?”
