Ouch! 

I gasped in surprise. 

A strong hand gripped my arm and pulled me away. I looked up to see an unfamiliar face. The moment he saw me, his expression turned panicked. Without a word, he released me and ran off. 

Rubbing my sore forehead, I watched his hurried retreat and then glanced back at Lisa’s office. It dawned on me that this man must have been eavesdropping at the door and was so engrossed that he didn’t notice me coming out, leading to our collision. 

So, this man… Was he the person with the username “My Heart Longs for Lisa” and the real name “Your Missed Lover“? 

Brandon approached me while I was lost in thought. As I was about to walk toward him, I heard Lisa’s voice from inside, “Keith, I’m hungry now.” 

That made me smile. 

Lisa was quite skilled at switching between aloof and affectionate. She knew how to handle things. 

“What’s so funny?” Brandon asked softly. 

“Lisa and Mr. Marrow are officially together.” I pointed behind me. 

He glanced briefly and then took my hand. “Let’s head back.” 

“Is it okay to leave Ellie alone?” I still had concerns despite having spoken to Lisa. 

“She’ll be fine,” he reassured me. “She’s been independent for years back home.” 

His words made me realize Ellie had always been self–reliant despite her delicate appearance. 

Feeling reassured by Brandon’s confidence, I relaxed. Then, we headed home. 

Throughout the drive, Brandon was quiet. I assumed he was still worried about Ellie’s surgery, so I stayed 

silent. 

After we got out of the car and went up to our apartment, he was still holding my hand. I tried to pull away slightly, but he didn’t let go. 

His Adam’s apple bobbed as he took a step closer, forcing me to retreat until I was pressed against the door. He leaned in, and his nose almost touched mine. “How can we have a baby if we don’t try? How will we know if we can have twins if we don’t test it out?” 

I was speechless. 

It was true that men could be quite petty. Was there any way to change that? 

With him so close, I could see the fiery determination in his eyes. It was clear he was set on getting what he wanted tonight..
