Chapter 87
“Do you have any wet wipes at home?” Brandon asked me again, “Or any other towel will do. I want to wipe myself down
He held my his clothes, towel in his hand but didn’t want to use it to clean
“I have facial cleansing wipes. You can wet them and use them the same way,” I said, pulling out two sheets for him..
He looked a bit puzzled, staring at the face wipes with an expression of unfamiliarity. I chuckled. “Mr. Howell, don’t tell me you don’t know what these are?”
“I don’t know. This is my first time seeing them.” He was adorably straightforward.
It made sense. Having never been in a relationship and with no girls around, he probably wouldn’t know about this. Facial cleansing wipes were a recent innovation in the skincare industry.
“Women use them to wash their face. They’re disposable,” I said as I wet the wipes for him and handed them over.
Brandon lowered his head to clean the mud off himself, and I noticed his shoulder was dirty too. So I grabbed another wipe to clean it for him.
The moment I touched him, Brandon’s body stiffened. But I pretended not to notice and continued wiping.
Suddenly, a black mole on the back of Brandon’s neck caught my eye. I
couldn’t help but think of the dream I had, about the little boy who carried me. with a small black mole on the back of his neck.
For a moment, I was lost in thought until Brandon called me. When I came back to my senses, I realized the wet wipe in my hand had soaked his clothes.
“Oh, it’s done.” I withdrew my hand.
Looking at the black mole on the back of his neck, I asked, “Brandon, have you had that mole on your neck since you were a kid?”
Brandon touched it. “Yes, I’ve had it since I was little.”

My heart skipped a beat. Oh my god, could the boy in my dream be Brandon?
Damn, it was weird. I haven’t known Brandon for long, how could I dream about him as a child? Why was he carrying me on his back?
Dreams were just a product of our imagination and could be anything bizarre. Yet I was amazed by this dream that seemed so real.
After all, before today, I didn’t even know Brandon had a small black mole on
his neck.
“I’m ready. Let’s go!” Brandon turned around and snapped me out of my chaotic thoughts.
We walked down the stairs together and bumped into the elderly neighbor coming up. She complimented Brandon again, “Young man, how nice of you! Come over often, okay? And maybe help us clean up a bit too.”
I thought to myself. “This old lady sure isn’t shy about asking for help.”
But Brandon smiled and agreed, “Sure.”
Well, he sure was always ready to help. He must have agreed out of courtesy. There was no way he would come back here, would he?
Brandon exited the building and looked around. “This neighborhood may be a bit old, but the overall environment is still pleasant.”
“It used to be better. Now it’s mostly tenants, so it’s much worse,” I casually replied.
He hummed in agreement and followed me to the car. As I was about to start driving, he asked, “Is the rent here expensive?”
I turned to look at him. “Huh?”
He pulled the seatbelt over and buckled up. “Just asking about the market rate, so I know what to expect when I rent.”
It seemed like a simple question, but something felt off.
