Chapter 936
Keira suddenly remembered what Gavin had said the day she and Jace went to get their marriage certificate. It seemed similar to what he was saying now.
That day, he brought her to the wedding house Jace had prepared for her. However, what he said led to a complete fallout between her and Jace. Gavin had always blamed himself for it, apologizing countless times. It became the regret he could never let go of in this lifetime, especially now that Jace was gone.
Gone, leaving this world alone, walking the rest of his life in solitude.
Keira didn’t know what Jace had entrusted Gavin to deliver to her, but she didn’t want Gavin to live with regret for the rest of his life. So, she agreed.
“Where are you going? It’s your wedding day. Don’t pull any tricks on me!” Lena said nervously.
Keira laughed. “Are you worried I’ll run away and leave you unable to face Hayden? How much did he bribe you?”
E
Lena slapped her arm playfully. “Stop joking around! I’m serious. I don’t agree with this. Jace is gone; you’re marrying Hayden now. Why are you making things complicated?”
Keira knew she didn’t mean any harm. She was simply worried something might go wrong with the wedding to Hayden, especially after witnessing the obstacles they’d overcome to be together.
Smiling, Keira teased her, “He’s watching us from above right now. Be careful, or he might get mad and mess with you.”
Lena grabbed Keira’s arm. “I don’t agree with you going now. If you must, wait until after the ceremony.”
“It’s fine,” Keira reassured her. No one cherished what Hayden and she had more than she did.
She understood that Jace had his reasons for asking Gavin to deliver this gift today.
“Rea, I’m worried,” Lena admitted, her voice tense. “What if his death was just a ruse, and he’s trying to ruin your wedding? What then?”
Her imagination always amazed Keira.
If only it were true.
Even though Jace’s departure was a form of release for him, deep down, Keira still wished he were alive to say, “Rea, I want you to be happy.”
Once, he had tried to bring her happiness. Even though their path diverged along the way, his intentions never changed.
Chapter 936
“If that happens, just call Hayden to crash the wedding. With his skills, he’ll definitely defeat Jace,” Keira joked.
Seeing Keira’s determination to leave with Gavin, Lena stomped her foot. “Should I tell Hayden? He’s been calling nonstop.”
“No need,” Keira said firmly. Lena glared at her, but before she could object, she grabbed her hand. “Because you’re coming with me.”
“Oh… that’s fine, then,” Lena finally agreed, albeit reluctantly.
On the way, she held Keira’s hand tightly and even warned Gavin, “Don’t try anything funny Hayden won’t let you off the hook if you do.”
“I won’t,” Gavin replied with a solemn tone. He rarely joked around, and today, his mood seemed heavier–likely because thoughts of his late employer weighed on him.
He brought them to a newly constructed residential area on the left side of the central business district. Keira recognized this development. The land had been bought last year at am astronomical price, rumored to be acquired by a mysterious figure. Construction began immediately afterward, and to her surprise, the entire complex was already completed within
a year.
“This project was purchased and built under President Johnston’s supervision while he was still alive,” Gavin explained.““Every unit has an ocean view.”
“So the mysterious tycoon was President Johnston all along. What a big spender. It’s said that someone like me, working their entire life without spending a penny, could only afford a bathroom here,” Lena joked.
She was exaggerating, but the prime location alone guaranteed the sky–high prices were no joke.
“Over the past year, President Johnston kept pushing for construction to be completed with the highest standards and quality,” Gavin continued, every word dripping with the weight off his nostalgia for Jace.
RiverwaveCorp might have changed completely now, but Gavin’s loyalty to face remained unwavering. That kind of devotion was truly rare.
