With eyes red, he walked towards Ellie, tears welling up in his eyes. Ellie saw Alex coming towards her with determined. strides and didn’t back away. 

She calmly said, “I just want a normal life. If you want me to leave, I will go. But after all these years together, I just want you to let me have my own path. I really don’t want to hate you!” 

With that, Ellie turned around, picked up her doll, and started to leave. As she passed by Alex, he grabbed the doll from her. 

Staring at Ellie with reddened eyes, his body trembling with the stress of emotions about to explode, he suddenly yelled at 

her. “It’s mine!” 

It was the first time Ellie had ever mentioned “hate” in front of him. 

Their eyes met, both of them with tears in their eyes. 

Ellie let go and left Alex’s room without looking back, 

Closing the door behind her, Ellie stood in the hallway with tears in her eyes. 

During all those days he didn’t value her, every moment made her retreat further, 

From the beginning, she always knew that no matter how much he loved him, it would only matter if they both loved each other. So she never bothered anyone.

The next morning, Ellie went downstairs and bumped into Alex at the bottom of the stairs. 

Their eyes met, and Ellie calmly greeted Alex, “Morning, Alex.” 

Alex hadn’t slept all night, and Ellie’s casual “Alex” almost choked him.

Ellie didn’t wait for Alex to respond and quickly dashed downstars. 

Alex stood at the staircase, his hand instinctively raised to stop be but it was too late. 

His hand slowly fell from midair, then clenched tightly. He stood at the staircase feeling down for a long time before turning and walking quickly back to his room. 

After finishing breakfast, Ellie told Nancy that she would be doing a part–time job at a bar that night. 

When Nancy heard about Ellie’s plans, she turned to her room and came back with a credit card, but Ellie refused.

It was just before 8 PM when Ellie arrived for her part–time shift at Encounter Bar. 

While getting her makeup done in the dressing room, Whitney came in to inform her that Layton had reserved a spot there tonight. Ellie frowned but said nothing. 

If Layton was coming over, Alex would definitely be with him. Hopefully, he won’t cause trouble for her. 

Just after 9 PM, in a private room on the second floor of the Kaschunter Bar, Alex was drinking one after another, and Layton had lost count of how many drinks Alex had downed, 

“Haley’s been searching for you like crazy, and you should call her back. Layton said as he snatched Alex’s glass away. 

Sering Alex’s chest rise and fall with anger, Layton joked with augh, “Do you want me to call Ellie in to provoke you a hit more, and keep you bedridden for a few more days?” 

Alex gave Layton a fierce look, then lit a cigarette 

Layton said, “No guy can stay indifferent when he knows a girl secretly liked him for seven years, especially since you’ve been living with Ellie for over ten years. 

“But with all the paths you could have taken, why confront Ellic publicly at the welcome home party? You could have chosen another way! 

Alex took a deep drag on his cigarette, blowing out a light ring of smoke that hid the emotions in his eyes. 

Alex finally broke the long silence. “I told her to go home, but Idn’t ask her to be my parents‘ daughter!” 

“You’re not afraid of her bring your parents‘ daughter. You’re afraid she’ll end up being like your sister!” 

Layton saw right through Alex’s thoughts. He , “Your impulsively proposed to Haley back then. Even if you’re not married yet, you’re technically engaged, so you have no right to et close to Ellie or demand anything from her. 

“You lack the moral ground, so in your panic, you tried to force lie to listen and back down. Do you really think that’s possible?” 

Layton continued, “If she were clueless enough to get involved with you, she’d really be the one ruining another relationship. Unless she’s as impulsive as you are, I doubt she’s ever going to admit she liked you!” 

Tl step out to take a call. You should call Haley back too.” Layton picked up his phone and left the private room.
