“Alex, Ini go. Nancy has misunderstood.” Ellie realized, frantically pashing

Alex allowed Ellie to push him, still keeping her pinned in the passenger seat. “If you’re not guilty of anything, what are you scared of? he teased. 

Their eyes met, and Ellie was left speechless. Even after months of not seeing him, trying her hardest to let go and forget, being alone with him 

She had feelings for him, and that was why she felt so uneasy- Alex, on the other hand, was calm and composed, because he didn’t feel anything for her. No matter how ambiguous his actions were, they didn’t affect him at all. 

With a click, Alex fastened Ellie’s seatbelt, rolled down the window, and hooked twice. “Mom, what are you doing he shouted, and then the car began to move backward. 

Nancy pointed at Alex, running over. “You little rascal, are you picking on Ellic again?” 

Alex didn’t explain but turned his head to glance at Ellie. The next moment, he hit the gas, and the car rapidly reversed, performing a towand the gale. 

Ellie sat in the passenger seat, still unnerved. Her hands clasped tightly over her chest, and she could feel her cars burning with embarrassment. 

The ride was silent. Ellie kept her head down the whole time. Alex seemed focused on driving, fint he glanord at her occasionally through the rearview mirror. He opened his mouth to speak several times but ended up saying nothing.

Ellie returned to her apartment, took a shower, changed her clothes, and went into the kitchen to cut some fruit Aaron said he’d come by after he finishes work, and she planned to go shopping with him later and then get ready to go back home for Christmas 

Hearing a knock on the door, Elle came out to open it. Seeing Haley show up without an inviation, Ellie stood in the doorway, not letting her in.. “Why are you here?” she asked 

Haley stood confidently at the doorway in her high heels. “Ellie, siper you chose to go abroad, why did you come back?” 

Ellie frowned. Ever since she saw through Haley’s insincere facade, she was completely disillusioned with her. When facing terrible people, it was best to cut them out. Ellie didn’t want to waste another word on Haley. 

“Ellie, I know you’re trying to win over Alex, but you should drop that idea” Haley thought Ellie’s silence was due to guilt, and she raised her eth hand to show her engagement ring 

“Ellie, take a good look. Alex and I are engaged. He promised he would marry no one else but ine, and his family all like me Haley grinned. Tim warning you. Don’t get close to Alex or visit the Warren family” 

Ellie looked at Haley calmly, “Listen up, Haley. My relationship with the Warren family won’t change because of you? 

“I always knew you had bad intentions” Haley said through clenched teeth, meeting Ellie’s determined gaze. “When your parents sent you to the Warren family, they were up to something. They kept you next to Alex hoping you’d seduce him for a big payday 

She then added with sarcasm, “Your family’s so broke that if your mom had any looks she might sell herself too.” 

Before Haley could even finish her sentence, Ellie slapped her hard across the face,

Haley, holding her stinging cheek, stared at Ellie in disbelief. “Whats wrong? Did 1 touch a nerve? Can’t take it!” 

Haley Owens, shut your Shihy mouth. If I hear you talk disrespectfully about my parents again, I’ll make you pay, he shouted, slamming the door shut behind her.
