As soon as Nancy stepped into the hall, chaos erupted. Haley stared in disbelief as Nancy walked toward her, nervously taking a step behind Alex for

Ellie hadn’t expected Nancy to show up. Watching the scene unfold, she opened her mouth but fraze in place. 

“Ellie!” Alex gripped Ellie’s arm, a look of anger on his face. I warned you not to play any tricks!” 

Elhe knew Alex was mistaking Nancy for someone she’d called over. She forced a smile and chose not to explain. 

Nancy pushed Alex aside and pulled Ellie’s hand, standing bolly in front of the crowd. “It’s true that I have a daughter, but since when do I have a daughter–in–law named Haley“” 

Nancy’s words sent shockwaves through the room. Haley’s face turned pale, her eyes pleading with Alex for help. 

Alex’s eyebrows furrowed in annoyance. “Mom, what are you talking abouth” : 

Nancy turned to face him. “Elhe is my daughter, and she’s your sister!” 

Alex shot back. “She’s not!” 

Nancy continued, “Your fiancee is Diana, and your engagement has nothing to do with the Owens family!” 

Alex clenched Haley’s hand ughtly, raising it for everyone to see the engagement ring on her finger. “I’m marrying Haley, and nothing you do will change that!” 

Once again, the room was thrown into chaos, flashbulbs popping as reporters shouted questions in rapid succession 

Ellie quietly stood beside Nancy, letting Nancy hold her hand as she listened to Alex’s firm declaration to Haley. 

Nancy shot a herce glare at her son. If you insist on being with a whore, don’t take me as your mother anymore!”

Two days later, Ellic awoke to Aaron’s call early in the morning. He told her that his workplace had confined he’d be back to work after Thanksgiving Finally, the weight that had been lunging in the air lifted from her chest. 

Tomorrow was Thanksgiving, and Aaron was going home to pick up their parents. Ellie stayed behind to clean up and prepare for the holiday. Once her parents arrived, she would have a serious discussion with them and Aaron about joining the Warren family.
