Loving The Playboy (by Queenies) novel Chapter 21

Chapter 21

When I woke up, the last thing I wanted was to go to school. I just wanted to curl up in bed and watch reruns of Good Doctor. I stood up from the bed, dragging my legs downstairs to the kitchen, where my mom was flipping pancakes and my dad was reading the newspaper. Asher was in the living room, watching TV.

Mom, Dad1 groaned, taking a seat beside him. He was dressed casually in a tshirt and black trousers. My mom turned back slightly, sending me smile before going back to flipping pancakes.

How are you, honey? I hope you slept well. my dad says, placing the newspaper on the kitchen counter.

I don’t feel too well; I think I am coming down with something. It would be best for everyone, mostly my classmates, if I stayed home.. I say slowly. trying to sound as sick as possible.

Really, what seems to be the problem? He had an amused look on his face.

My stomach hurts a lot, and I have a headache. That was the first excuse 1 could think of, and I hoped it was effective,

I wonder what could have cause your stomach to hurt, I’m sure it has nothing to do with the junk you have been eating My dad says sarcastically, and i tried not to wince at the fact that he was right. You just have to take responsibility for your actionsHe shakes his head, picking up the newspaper from the counter and flipping to a different page.

I turned to look at my mom with a pout on my face, trying to make her help me talk to my dad. He was her husband, after all. But instead, she raised her hands up in surrender before pointing to my dad, telling me to handle the situation by myself. She had a smile on her face, like she was familiar with my tactic.

Dad, butI was cut off before I completed my sentence.

No, but Bree, you are going to school, and that’s final. Even little Asher loves going to school, learn from him. He says it sternly, leaving no room for arguments

My mom placed a plate of pancakes in front of me, my dad, Asher, and herself. She walked to the living room, coming back with Asher, hand in hand.

Hi Bree.” His small voice greeted me.

Hey, big man. Already ready for schoolI asked. He was already dressed up, and it wasn’t even time to leave yet for school.

Maybe I should really learn from Asher.

Ugh. Who cares?

Like Jasper once said, Rubber duck.

I groaned loudly, annoyed, but didn’t take it out on the food. I ate my food, enjoying every bit of it, before standing up to walk back upstairs,

Drama queen,” My dad shouted out loud, making my mom and Asher laugh.

I was anything but dramatic.

I need to up my

y game.

I can’t believe my plan didn’t work,

After a quick showered and brushing of my teeth. I made my way out of the bathroom with a towelstrapped around my body, then stood in front of my closest, looking for something presentable to wear.

It was just school after all, it’s not like I had anyone to impress, and neither was Hit the mood to impress anyone. I decided to wear a black shor jumpsuit that stopped at my midthigh; my shoe was dark. Everything wore was dark, outlining my mood.

After brushing my hair and packing it up into a ponytail, I brought two strands out on each side of my face. I put a little makeup on my facedark eyeshadow with dark eyeliner and a dark lipstick.

Today, I was the dark empress.

Jesus! Breetshe screamed, her hands on her chest, a look of shock on her face. My dad turned his back to stare along with Asher, a look of shock on their faces as well.

Are you going for a funeral, Bree! Asher asked in his confused lule voice.

No, big man, this is just my mood for the dayI smiled at him. The smile vanished when I looked at my parents. Emotionless.

My dad just rolled his eyes in response, while my mom was laughing and shaking her head. 1 huffed. They were not taking me seriously.

I hope you find your emotions, wherever you might have hidden them before you end up giving nice old person an heart attack.” patting my back sofily and walking to his room.

1 stood there with my mouth agape, letting out a scoff. My mom was still laughing, so I sent a glare her way.
