“Aurora. I’m not your bodyguard anymore. I’m the Watson family heir now, as good as Maverick. We could be together openly,” he said softly.
Aurora pinched herself to stay clear–headed. Scott Why am I in his arms? she wondered
Naomi had shut the door, and Scott didn’t bother locking it as he carried Aurora to the bed.
“Scott. I’ll never be with you. Let it go, Aurora said, her voice icy
Scott tossed her onto the bed, leaning over her. “You only thought I wasn’t good enough as a bodyguard. I know you’re mad I lied, but it was all for love. I love you so much. Aurora. Don’t marry Maverick, okay? I’m rich now–I can help the Sage family”
Aurora’s back throbbed when she hit the bed. “Scott, don’t you dare!”
“So what if I do?” Scott sneered, pinning her down and kissing her forcefully. “You’re mine, Aurora”

She guessed Scott’s claim about being the Watson family heir meant his mother’s relatives had found him. He’d used this connection to climb the social ladder before.

This time, he wasn’t taking any chances. Scott wouldn’t get anywhere near Aurora again.
Naomi stood waiting by the club entrance, and Maverick approached, dangerously handsome in a sleek black suit, his presence radiating menace.
“Mr. Parker!” Naomi stepped forward, a coy smile on her lips. But before she could say more, Maverick grabbed her by the throat.
“Naomi, if anything happens to Aurora tonight, you’ll answer for it with your life,” he growled.
Panicked, Naomi shook her head. “No, Mr. Parker, I swear! This isn’t on me. Aurora wanted this.”
Unmoved. Maverick shoved her toward
his bodyguards. “Take her upstairs.”
“Mr. Parker, please! Let me g

They stopped outside a door. “It’s dus one, sir,” one guard wid.
Maverick cast a cold glance at Naomi “Open it.”
Naomi hadn’t expected Maverick to pin all the blame on her without even hearing her side. She was furious but wasn’t about to give up. Standing outside the door, she simmered with reseNICI.

Seeing Maverick’s dark expression, she gritted her teeth and swiped the key card to unlock the door.
