Chapter 63
There was nothing left to say about old feelings. It was just the TV playing at that moment.
Aurora pouted without speaking, her eyes fixed on the thermos in his hand. “What did you bring to me?”
“Chicken soup. Maverick opened the thermos and poured out the chicken soup.
Upon hearing it was chicken soup, Aurora lost interest, but the delicious aroma caught her attention.
The soup was rich and creamy, with delicate, smooth chicken meat.
“You cook this?”
“Do you think I’d do that?”
Aurora looked away, silently thinking to herself that she had indeed overthought things.
Such a rich and creamy chicken soup was obviously made by an old chef with exquisite skills.
Maverick was usually too busy with company projects to have time to learn something like this.
When Maverick turned on the TV, the news was still covering Scott, with everyone speculating whether he and Maverick might end up competing over Aurora.

Just as Maverick was about to fly into a rage, the report final
The reporter ended with a question to keep viewers hooked, but neither of the two people in the hospital room seemed to care.
The chicken was just as tender and flavorful as it looked, and Aurora couldn’t help but finish every drop of the rich broth. Finally, parting her stomach, she asked hopefully, “Could you bring this again next time?”
Being in the hospital, the doctor did not allow her to eat many things.
Over the past few days, she felt like her meals tasted so bland. First, they were light, but then there wasn’t even a hint of salt.
Maverick looked at the empty thermos, smiling. “Be good, and I’ll bring it again.”
“When was I not good?” Aurora muttered, then suddenly remembered the trouble she’d caused a few days ago.
Although she hadn’t meant to cause trouble, there was no way she could ignore Mia’s situation.
But by now, it as impossible to say this hadn’t affected Maverick.
“So how do you explain the situation with Scott?”
Maverick was just asking such a simple question, but Aurora looked embarrassed.

Maverick looked at her intently, his gaze so deep that it made her a bit nervous. Finally, he stood up. Tll go buy some for you “Hurry, or they leave?”
Maverick walked out with a faint smile on his lips.

Though she could enjoy good meals at home, this soup tasted just like the ones she used to have when she was at the Sage family home.

personally.
Aurora answered the call, and her father’s slightly older voice made her heart ache.
“Aurora? Are you feeling better now?
“Dad. I’m much better.”
“That’s good to hear. Maverick came by and told me you haven’t been eating well lately. He even went to our house to ask the chef to make you some chicken soup. It tastes just like before, right?”
“Yes, I finished it all. I was wondering why it tasted so familiar!”
Her gaze fell on the thermos, a smile spreading across her face. It seemed things weren’t as bad as they seemed.
“I’m glad you finished it. I’ve been busy with work lately, so I won’t be able to visit you. But once you’re fully recovered, come back and we’ll have a meal together.”
Elias sighed, and Aurora couldn’t shake the feeling that he had something he wanted to say. “Dad, is there something you want to tell ne? Is it about Evelyn?”
Elias hesitated for a few seconds. Then, he denied, “No. Not at all. Anyway, I have a meeting. Just focus on resting and get well soon,
He hung up the phone, but Aurora’s heart sank
His words made it clear that he was likely planning to marry Evelyn.
But that couldn’t happen. Aurora wouldn’t mind if he married someone else, but Evelyn was someone Aurora couldn’t easily acce

Aurora would never allow such a tragedy to happen again.
Meanwhile, Maverick had gone out to buy some peaches for Aurora. As he walked through the streets, he saw fruit vendors everywhere, each claiming their peaches were the freshest and tastiest.
He chose a stall where the peaches looked clean and shiny, bought a few, and headed back to the hospital
