Chapter 360

The air in Elyra’s war tent was thick with tension. Maps of the territories were spread across the table, surrounded by her closest allies—Cassian, Selene, Fenrir, and a few of the remaining pack leaders. The flickering light from the candles cast long shadows on the walls, mirroring the heavy uncertainty that weighed on all of them. Outside, the sounds of the camp preparing for the inevitable battle echoed through the night.

Elyra stood at the head of the table, her gaze fixed on the map in front of her. The silence hung heavy, broken only by the distant howls of wolves as the wind carried their eerie calls. Dain’s influence had spread far beyond their initial fears, and every day that passed brought them closer to a full-scale war.

“Dain’s army grows stronger with each passing hour,” Elyra finally spoke, her voice steady but filled with the weight of the realization. “We can’t keep waiting for him to strike again.”

Cassian, standing beside her, nodded in agreement. His eyes were hard, his expression resolute. “We need to take the fight to him. An all-out assault. We hit him where it hurts—his strongholds, his supply lines. We tear him down before he can do the same to us.”

Elyra turned to him, her heart heavy with the decision that loomed over her. She knew Cassian was right—waiting had only allowed Dain’s forces to grow stronger. But she also knew that rushing into battle without a clear strategy could cost them everything.

“An all-out assault would leave us exposed,” Selene interjected, her voice calm but filled with a quiet wisdom. “Dain is too powerful now. We would lose too many in a direct fight.”

Elyra met her gaze, silently thanking the Luna for her careful, calculating nature. “Then what do you suggest?” she asked, her voice tinged with frustration. “We’ve tried to reason with him, we’ve tried to find a way to save him. But he’s not the brother I once knew. He’s too far gone.”

Selene stepped forward, her eyes narrowed in concentration. “We need to target the source of his power—the shard. It’s the only way to truly weaken him. If we can destroy it, we can break his hold on the packs and render his army powerless.”

Cassian scowled, his impatience evident. “And you think a stealth mission is the answer? We don’t have the luxury of time, Selene. Dain will crush us if we wait too long.”

“I’m not suggesting waiting forever,” Selene replied, her voice unwavering. “But we need to be smart about this. We can’t beat him head-on right now, not with the army he’s building. We need to strike at his heart—the shard—and remove it before he can use it to destroy everything.”

Elyra turned her gaze back to the map, her mind racing with the possibilities. The thought of an assault on Dain’s stronghold was terrifying. They would have to infiltrate his inner circle, find the shard, and destroy it. But Selene’s idea was their best shot at bringing Dain to his knees without plunging the packs into certain destruction.

“And if we fail?” Elyra asked, her voice quiet but filled with the weight of the question.

Selene’s expression softened slightly, but her resolve was unwavering. “We won’t fail. We have the Moon Goddess on our side.”
