Duke took the bowl after she finished eating and softly asked, “Do you want to watch the sunrise?”

Adeena turned to the side and looked out the window. Her body reacted before her brain could process it. “Okay, let‘s go.”

She pulled the blanket away and got out of bed as Duke took a jacket from the side and put it over her shoulders.“ It‘s cold in the morning. It‘s better to put this on.”

“Thank you.”

Adeena realized that she had been saying “thank you” a lot this morning

After finding out that she might be a substitute the day before yesterday, she ran away that very night.
