Fabian met Madeline’s inquisitive eyes. “Eveline, do you still trust me?”
Madeline paused after hearing the words. “Are you saying you don’t want me to take Lily away from here?”
Fabian did not nod, but that was what he meant.
“Eveline, to tell you the truth, I’m reluctant to let Lily go back with you.”
Upon hearing this, Madeline could not help but keep quiet.
For a while, she did not even know how to refute it. However, that was her daughter.
“ I know that you, Jeremy, and your family are all concerned and worried about Lily, but if Lily goes back with you, I think I’ll never have the chance to see her again.”
“What do you mean you’ll never see her again? As long as you want to see her, you can come to see her freely. Do you think Jeremy and I will stop you?” Madeline felt this strange.
“No, I won’t go back to Glendale anymore,” Fabian said with a soft sigh before looking out the car window. “I’ll never go to the city where I lost two of my dearest family members again.”
Madeline’s heart trembled when she heard this. She figured she truly could not empathize.
In this world, true empathy did not exist.
She would never understand the pain in Fabian’s heart, but she could feel the pain of losing a loved one.
She knew that it would be useless to comfort him, so she said nothing.
Once she was back, Madeline waited for Evan’s call. Based on the current situation, Carter would never release Lily without getting a satisfactory answer from Evan’s father.
The next day, when Madeline got up, she heard conversational voices outside the room.
