After hearing this, Madeline nodded silently.
She clenched her fingers restlessly, her eyes filled with worry.
“Last night, he told me that he’d think of a countermeasure before going to meet Carter, but I woke up just now and found that he was no longer in the room. I can’t call him as well.“
As Madeline spoke, she felt her heart beating more frantically.
“I suspect that Jeremy has already met Carter and something bad may have happened.“
“Don’t think too much, I’ll take you there first. Maybe you can’t call him because the place he’s at has no signal.“
Fabian soothed and hoped that Madeline would stop overthinking.
Madeline certainly hoped that Jeremy was presently safe, but this uneasy heartbeat seemed to be telling her that Jeremy was not safe.
It took about ten minutes by car to reach the old address of the Stygian Johnson Gang.
The sight of the big house in front of her triggered Madeline’s memory.
The last time she had been here was because Jeremy thought that Lillian had been taken away by Fabian’s brother, Yorick.
It was because of the incident back then Lana fell in love with Jeremy, which then caused a series of troubles to occur one after another.
Madeline got out of the car immediately and quickly ran to the gate.
The door was open, and it seemed that someone had entered this place not long ago.
Madeline entered the premises quickly. There was a smell of dust blowing over her face. It seemed that it had been a while since someone came here, and there had not been anyone who came to clean this place up.
“Jeremy, are you here? Jeremy.“ Madeline called out Jeremy’s name as she walked in, but no one responded to her the entire time.
She felt her heart beating more and more wildly; even her voice started to shake a little.
