Married by Accident Taming the Billionaire (Cecilia) novel Chapter 317

Chapter 317 Showdown at the Pier
As expected, amidst a sea of camera flashes, Petunia saw Cecelia stepping out of a luxury car.
Wearing a silver evening gown, she radiated charm under the spotlight, appearing like a graceful and noble mermaid princess. Her every move exuded elegance and refinement.
Cecelia held onto Remington's arm. Remington was dressed in a retro, handmade suit, his white shirt impeccably tailored, and his matching pocket square added a unique and tasteful touch to his attire.
The man exuded an imposing aura of nobility, while the woman was incredibly beautiful, stunning everyone around.
Their presence alone outshone even the most famous celebrities in the entertainment industry.
The topic of whether they would remarry had always been of great curiosity to the public and the reporters.
Now, with the opportunity at hand, reporters bombarded them with questions. However, Cecelia and Remington remained silent, walking up the red carpet under the protection of their bodyguards.
Unexpectedly, Cecelia and Petunia were wearing the same style of dress tonight, with only different colors.
Petunia wore a golden dress, exuding a dignified aura, while Cecelia's dress was silver, giving her a more subdued elegance.
"Miss Linsey, Mr. Nelson!"
Petunia spoke calmly, taking the initiative.
Both Cecelia and Remington halted their steps. Cecelia's gaze swept over Maggie and Petunia.
"It turns out to be Mrs. Taylor and Miss Taylor!"
Facing Maggie, Cecelia showed no emotions. At this point, Maggie was just a pawn in the conspiracy, not the focal point of her concerns.
"I didn't expect, Miss Linsey, that you would choose the same dress style as mine. We've accidentally worn the same!"
Upon seeing Cecelia's dress, Petunia realized that the haute couture dress she had seen earlier, which had been taken away, was now worn by Cecelia.
"Having the same outfits are not a big deal. Whoever wears it better is what matters. Of course, Miss Taylor looks good in this dress too."
Cecelia's response left no room for politeness.
The same dress could have a different feel on different body types, and in this aspect, Cecelia was confident she outshone Petunia by a long shot.
As for Remington, there was no need for evaluation; his physique was perfect, and he could effortlessly pull off any outfit.
Petunia didn't like Cecelia's words and suppressed her anger. "I don't like it when others wear the same outfit as me. It makes me uncomfortable!"
She expressed her likes and dislikes directly. In terms of emotional intelligence, she was far behind her mother.
"If Miss Taylor doesn't like it, you can change and come back. Golden may not necessarily suit you."
Remington's voice was cool and composed, his gaze showing no emotions.
Petunia's face stiffened at his words, finding it difficult to respond, but she still displayed defiance and pride.
"Originally, I had my eye on the silver one, but Miss Linsey took it!"
Cecelia looked down at her own dress but didn't say anything.
Remington continued, "This dress was custom-made by me for Cece. Why would there be any talk of someone taking it? Clearly, there is only one of this design. Why does Miss Taylor have the same style? Did you perhaps copy this haute couture design for yourself?"
Petunia was dumbfounded by the questioning, as if she had been accused of plagiarism.
Indeed, she had replicated the style Cecelia was wearing. That particular design was haute couture, and to avoid any copyright issues, she had made a similar dress in yellow. Now, being confronted by Remington, she felt exposed and embarrassed.
Cecelia looked at Petunia coldly. "I think Miss Taylor, as a fashion designer, should be well aware of the importance of protecting a brand and would never blatantly copy someone else's creativity."
"It's just a dress that looks similar. Upon closer inspection, there are significant differences. It's not exactly the same. Let's not dwell on a piece of clothing any longer. Let's go."
Cecelia didn't want to waste any more time on this meaningless matter. She held onto Remington's arm and walked away directly. Petunia stood still, seething with anger.
The words Cecelia had just spoken were even more embarrassing than directly accusing her of plagiarism. Cecelia was ruthless, scolding others without using any foul language!
Seeing her daughter upset, Maggie asked, "Do you want to go back and change your outfit?"
"No!"
Petunia couldn't go back and change her dress. If she did, it would be admitting that she copied and wore a high imitation. She refused to change. After all, no one outside knew how many of these dresses existed, and no one would think that she was someone who wore knock-offs. She was willing to bet on this.
Holding Maggie's hand, she followed Cecelia's group onto the gangway. However, she was not content to walk behind Cecelia and wanted to surpass her, taking the lead into the banquet hall.
"Excuse me, could you please move aside? We arrived first!"
Petunia deliberately increased her pace and, when passing Cecelia, she even pushed her slightly.
Suddenly bumped by Petunia, Cecelia's high heels became unstable, and as she stepped back, her heel got stuck in a gap in the gangway, causing her to fall backward.
"Ah..." Cecelia let out a cry.
Seeing her about to fall, Remington promptly caught her by the waist.
Cecelia lay in the man's arms, and Remington's deep eyes were filled with tension and concern. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
Cecelia held her chest and shook her head gently.
Petunia had already overtaken them, and upon seeing this scene, it only pained her eyes more.
Her goal was not to let them display their affection!
The reporters on the pier also snapped pictures of this thrilling and romantic moment.
Remington helped Cecelia to her feet and looked at Petunia ahead, his eyes filled with a chilling warning.
He saw that Petunia had deliberately bumped into Cecelia!
"Miss Taylor, you bumped into Cece. Shouldn't you apologize?"
In front of everyone, Petunia couldn't act like she had nothing to do with it, so she showed some remorse. "I'm sorry, Miss Linsey. I accidentally bumped into you. I'm really sorry! Should I give you a hand?"
"No need."
Just a little trick!
Cecelia didn't say anything more. Petunia smiled and said, "Then my mother and I will go ahead. See you later!"
Petunia had to enter the venue first to establish her presence. When Cecelia arrived later wearing the same dress as hers, people would assume that Cecelia's dress was a high imitation.
After the mother and daughter disappeared, Remington prepared to take Cecelia upstairs, but she held him back.
She held his hand, tilted her head up, and whispered something in his ear.
Remington listened and, when she mentioned that her heel was stuck, he bent down to check.
He helped Cecelia remove the stuck heel, but the heel had broken and could no longer be worn.
"The heel is broken. You can't wear these anymore."
Remington helped her take off both high heels, his large, dry hands holding Cecelia's petite feet.
Cecelia felt a surge of electricity, coursing through her body from the soles of her feet, causing her to curl her toes slightly in response. She felt a bit bashful as she moved her foot away.
Below the pier, a group of reporters was still watching, wondering what Remington was doing crouched on the ground with a pair of damaged shoes.
