Aurelia was confused as she saw the darkening look on his face. Why was Leslie being so sarcastic? 

“You don’t need to compliment me. It’s what it is.” She lowered her gaze at the divorce agreement helplessly, feeling worse about it than about owing a debt worth 50 million. 

“Aurelia Simmons!” he shouted. 

Feeling like her eardrums were busted, she twitched in fear. “I can hear you.” 

“Explain yourself,” he said darkly. 

“Mr. Synder… I can’t drag you down with me.” She stared at him and explained, “A divorce is the best solution. You are the brightest star in the IT industry right now with a promising future. I, on the other hand, angered Eva. She will never let me go and I’m going to end up dragging you down with me.” 

“So you are suggesting divorce for my sake?” Leslie retorted. 

Aurelia nodded. “Yeah.” 

Something felt off with how he phrased it, but Leslie’s expression eased up and he cleared his throat. “Do you really think I can’t handle Eva Hanks?” he asked. 

Aurelia frowned. “She’s different. She works for the media and has a powerful 

background. How will you deal with her? It’s 50 million, not 500 dollars. Even your boss won’t help.” 

“What do you plan to do, then?” Leslie asked. 

“Let’s get a divorce first. I will take on everything myself and fight her to the nail for this. 

I have nothing much to lose, anyway…” Aurelia declared meekly, becoming increasingly unsure of herself as she spoke. 

How could she possibly match Eva? She was just gritting her teeth and holding her 

ground. However, she would never admit to a crime she didn’t commit.
