When she looked away, tears welled up in her eyes the moment she turned around, and her pent–up emotions finally broke out completely.
All of a sudden, a man said with muffled voices behind her, “Ms. Marple…”
Not long after the driver drove Lumma out of the farm, several cars blocked their way and the car window was knocked by a man in a black suit, “Ms. Louis, my boss invites you to get in that car.”
The car the bodyguard mentioned was a Rolls–Royce, a top luxury car, which few people could afford across the world.
Even if Lumma hadn’t seen the person in the car, she roughly deduced who he was.
Knowing that she couldn’t escape, Lumma walked over wisely and opened the car door, “Mr. Marple, what do you want to do?”
George said with a faint smile, “Don’t worry, Ms. Louis, I dare not do anything to you for Adam’s sake. I’ve always admired you and I’d like to invite you to dinner.”
His words made Lumma turn pale with fright, “Have you installed a bug in Keeley’s house?”
Otherwise, George wouldn’t know what she said to Keeley last night.
“The man was so horrible!” Lumma thought.
George didn’t answer at all, “Ms. Louis, please get in the car.”
Lumma, “Mr. Marple, I don’t know you well, so there’s no need to have dinner together.”
George, “Aren’t we familiar with each other? Leaving aside the workplace, we have met several times in Adam’s private parties, and even had dinner at the same table a few times. Ms. Louis, I know you well, but you say you are not familiar with me. You hurt my feelings.”
Lumma knew that she couldn’t leave unless George agreed, but she didn’t believe that George could kill her.
She got into the car and sat upright beside George, “Mr. Marple, talk with me as you please.”
George ordered the driver to drive, and the latter stepped on the accelerator hard. The vehicle speed was too fast to make Lumma react.
She was seemingly calm, “Mr. Marple, where are you taking me?”
George, “Find a place to eat and chat.”
