Chapter 107: Searching for Henry 

“You guys are having marital problems?” the police officer at the station asked Sophia while taking notes. 

Sophia paused.“Not exactly.” 

The officer raised an eyebrow.“Then what is it?” 

“We’re getting a divorce. We were supposed to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau this morning.” 

“And that’s “not a marital problem? You’re at the point of divorce!” 

The officer sighed and continued writing. 

“Can you dispatch an officer quickly?” Sophia urged. 

The officer 

put down his pen “First, he’s an adult. Second, he took his luggage and drove away, clearly intending to leave. That’s not a missing person case. Third, you’re getting divorced, and he obviously doesn’t want to, so he ran away. Therefore, we can’t send an officer. You should wait. He might be back in a couple of days.”

“But he’s not… mentally stable?”

The officer sighed again.“Ma’am, why don’t you contact his friends? They might know something. If you still haven’t heard from him in a few days, you can come back and report him missing.” 

Leaving the station, Sophia called Jason Reynolds, and they

Sophia hushed him when she saw people looking over.“I don’t know if it counts as running away, but he’s gone, and I can’t reach him.” 

Jason Reynolds tried calling Henry; it was still off.

Sophia told Jason Reynolds about their plans to divorce and the problems they were having. Jason Reynolds was shocked, then even more shocked. After composing himself, he said, “So, he ran away because he doesn’t want to divorce you?” 

Sophia remained silent. The reason was obvious, but she felt there was more to it. “Sister–in–law, don’t worry too much. He’s a grown man; he can take care of himself. I think he’ll be back in a few days. You can talk then,” Jason Reynolds said. 

I guess I have to wait. But I hope you can use your connections to find him. I’m worried about

Sophia didn’t mention Henry’s unstable mental state to Jason Reynolds; he probably wouldn’t want others to know. 

“Okay, I understand.” 

After parting with Jason Reynolds, Sophia went to Dodo’s Restaurant and told them about Henry. 

“I’ll take a few days off and look for him,” Jay said. 

“I’ll close the restaurant, and my wife and I will look for him, too, Simon added. 

They knew Henry’s past, things she didn’t know, and they might be able to find him. 

“Thank you. I appreciate it,” Sophia said. 

“Don’t mention it. He’s our good brother. If anything happens to him, we’d risk our lives for him,” Jay said, thumping his chest. 

“Don’t talk like that. Henry is just taking a break; nothing serious,” Mrs. Sterling said, patting Sophia’s shoulder.“Don’t worry too much. Henry is always level–headed.” 

“I hope he’s sensible and contacts me soon,” Sophia sighed. 

For the next few days, Sophia searched for Henry, cared for Father Reynolds in the hospital, all while keeping Henry’s disappearance a secret. Linda repeatedly tried to talk to Henry, but Sophia made excuses to avoid it. 

Then, Jason Reynolds sent her an address. 

New York hotel. Uncle is there. Go find him.”

It was evening, so Sophia called Mr. Givens for a ride.. 

Sophia got out of the car at the hotel entrance; Mr. Givens parked. 

As she was about to enter, someone grabbed her arm. 

Sophia turned and saw Julian Jennings. 

She shook off his arm.“What are you doing here?” 

“Henry’s been missing for days. You came to this hotel to find him, right? He’s here with another woman, right? You’re here to catch them, right?” Julian Jennings’s eyes gleamed. 

Sophia’s eyes twinkled. “You’re following me?” 

“I’m here to help you.” 

“How did you know I was looking for Henry?” 

Julian Jennings coughed.“Don’t worry about that. You can’t handle them alone, I have to help!” 

“You’re insane!” 

Sophia needed to find Henry and didn’t have time for Julian Jennings. She entered the hotel, with Julian Jennings trailing behind. 

She confirmed with the front desk and took the elevator to the fifteenth floor. 

At room 1503, she knocked. After a while, no one answered. She knocked again.. You know he’s in there, hiding his mistress, Julian Jennings said, rushing over.
