Just then, Sonya saw Dennis, who was in the crowd but without a weapon. He saw her and hurriedly ran towards her. 

“Dr. Ella, go back inside and lock the courtyard door. If things get physical, you might get hurt,” he 

said. 

Seeing the angry and indignant look on the villagers‘ faces, Sonya asked Dennis what had happened. 

He answered, “Someone from the courtyard beat Deon up.” 

“Deon?” 

He sighed, “Yeah. You’ve seen him; he’s indeed a rascal, but he’s a local anyway. Of course, the villagers won’t sit around when seeing him get beaten up by an outsider. Besides, he up badly. He’s got wounds all over his body, and his head is covered in blood. He was found got beaten

Sonya thought of something and asked, “When did this happen?”

She asked further, “Where was he found?”

Hearing the villagers‘ commotion, Henry came out, yawning. 

“I beat him up. Come find faults with me if you wanna avenge him.” 

The attacker showed up with a nonchalant attitude, which ignited the villagers‘ rage, and they were indignant, claiming to beat him up. The village chief raised his hand, asking everyone to 

calm down.

Henry naturally wouldn’t stand there without doing anything; he dodged swiftly and then grasped the shovel. Though the man was strong, he was caught off guard, and in the blink of an eye, the shovel was in Henry’s hand. 

Seeing that Henry dared to fight back, other villagers came up, surrounding him. The director was so scared that he hurriedly bowed and apologized repeatedly. However, Henry remained calm and even took out a cigarette to smoke under their threatening gazes. “Irrelevant people should step aside. We won’t implicate the innocent!” shouted the village chief at the film crew.

It wasn’t a big crew, and there were only less than twenty men, all having little strength. They were already pale and terrified, so upon hearing this, they subconsciously stepped back. The man next to the village chief had lost his weapon to Henry and was furious. Hearing the village chief’s words, he immediately wanted to pounce at Henry. 

“I think the roads here are so bumpy, especially the mountain road that leads to the town. It’s got potholes everywhere,” Henry suddenly said. 

The village chief stopped the man next to him and asked, “What do you mean?”

The village chief stuttered, “But it’ll cost at least 170,000 dollars.”

Henry held a cigarette, looking so arrogant that made others want to punch him in the face. But the villagers all put down their weapons because he said he’d repair the road. 

Fruit trees were planted all over the village. Yet, because of the crappy road, the fruit merchants seldom went here to buy fruits, and they couldn’t transport the fruits out. The ripe ones were stuck in their hands and ended up rotting. 

They were in great need of a well–paved and spacious cement road. If it came true, it would greatly benefit all of them. 

The village chief thought for a moment and said to Henry,“Mr. Sullivan, let’s go somewhere more suitable to talk.” 

He now treated Henry with respect, politely inviting Henry into the courtyard to talk. 

They chatted for a while, and then the village chief came out. 

He said, “I asked Mr. Sullivan. It turns out it was Deon’s fault. He acted rudely and insulted Mr. Sullivan, and that was why Mr. Sullivan beat him up. Besides, I think everyone here knows Deon is always a rascal. He deserved some beating.” 

In other words, Deon got beaten up because he insulted Henry.

After seeing off Dennis, she pondered for a moment and walked in Henry’s direction. The village chief was discussing with Henry regarding the money to repair the road.“Mr. Sullivan,170,000 dollars is not a small amount. Maybe you…” 

“Give me an account, and I’ll transfer it to you tomorrow,” Henry said indifferently. 

“Are you sure, Mr. Sullivan?” 

“Yeah.” 

The village chief felt relieved and thanked him several times. 

Then he promised, “Don’t worry about Deon. I promise he won’t cause any trouble for you again.” 

“What trouble could he possibly cause me?” Henry sneered. 

After the village chief left, Henry turned around and walked into the courtyard. “You followed me this afternoon?” Sonya asked him. 

Henry turned around and saw her. Seeing her cold expression, he dwelled on her question and immediately felt a bit annoyed. He stepped up for her, yet instead of thanking him, she suspected he had followed her. 

“No, I didn’t,” he denied, but his words weren’t convincing. 

“Henry, I hope you really understood what I said,” she stated.
