Chapter 52: The Doctor’s Daughter–in–Law “Sonya’s here!” 

Linda, seated on the sofa, stood up and hurried to greet Sonya.

Linda chuckled, ignoring Mrs. Jennings’s expression. Mrs. Jennings, my daughter–in–law has such good taste. She probably doesn’t know you actually worked as a waitress when you were younger; your specialty was reciting the menu.” 

Mrs. Jennings’s face fell. 

Sonya covered her mouth. She hadn’t known; otherwise, she wouldn’t have made that comment. 

“How should we eat this? Linda asked. 

Mrs. Jennings took a deep breath, forcing a smile. She carefully prepared a small plate of tuna, topped with caviar and a special sauce, presenting it to Linda. 

“Mrs. Reynolds, please try. I had a top Japanese chef create this sauce. It’s exquisite.” 

Linda glanced at it.“It must be good.” 

“It is. I went through a lot of trouble to get these top–quality ingredients.” 

“Let my daughter–in–law try first. If she says it’s good, then it really is.” 

Mrs. Jennings’s smile froze, her hand trembling. 

Sonya knew Linda was defending her. She looked at Mrs. Jennings and asked, “Mrs. Jennings, we’ve dined together a few times. You should know my tastes.” 

Mrs. Jennings gritted her teeth.“I may not be completely sure.” 

“Oh? I wouldn’t dare to eat this then.” 

“You… you can’t eat spicy food, right?” 

Sonya smiled.“You do know.” 

During her eight years with Julian Jennings, she wasn’t allowed to visit the Jennings family mansion, but when Mrs. Jennings visited the villa, she had Yang sister make spicy food. Julian Jennings knew she couldn’t eat spicy food but didn’t care. 

Mrs. Jennings’s hands trembled even more.“There’s no chili in this.” 

Sonya smiled and took a bite. 

“Is it good?” Linda asked.

Sonya suppressed a laugh. Mrs. Jennings had gone to great lengths, and she was asking if it was 

edible.

“So, it’s not that good,” Linda scoffed.“Who eats raw fish in this weather? It’ll make your stomach cold. I made dumplings; let’s eat dumplings tonight.” 

Sonya nodded. “I love dumplings.” 

“I learned how to make the three–fresh filling from Henry. They’re really delicious.” 

“I’ve had his three–fresh dumplings before.” 

“You have?” 

Sonya recounted her medical school days, Henry working at Lucky Duo’s, and ordering his dumplings. 

Linda’s eyes 

lit up.“It’s fate! You two were meant to be!” 

Mrs. Jennings was ignored. 

“It’s getting late, Mrs. Jennings. I won’t keep you for dinner,” Linda said pointedly. 

Mrs. Jennings realized Linda was protecting Sonya. Her visit was humiliating, but she had to 

come. 

“By the way, the Xianglin Tech CEO’s wife’s birthday banquet is coming up. Will you be attending, Mrs. Reynolds?” 

Linda leaned back.“I’m close to Mrs. An; of course, I’ll be there.” 

“Did they send you an invitation?” 

“Long ago. Didn’t you receive one?” 

Mrs. Jennings chuckled nervously.“Mrs. An might have forgotten.” 

“I’ll remind her.” 

“Okay.”

Linda squeezed Sonya’s hand.“I know you dislike this, so don’t worry. Reynolds is strong; you can do whatever you want. Happiness is most important.” 

“Thank you,” Sonya hugged her. 

A commotion came from upstairs. Linda groaned.“Those two can’t be in the same room without arguing!” 

They went upstairs to the study. 

Mr. Reynolds shouted, “I won’t bother you. I’ll die before I let you take care of me!” 

Henry replied, “Fine. Crawl into your own coffin then!”
