Henry took a honeymoon vacation, skipping work.

After breakfast, Sonya went upstairs to find him and ask him to go for a walk.
He rewarded her request with a kiss, which quickly escalated into something much more intense.
“Come on, I’ll take you somewhere.”
He took her downstairs, out of the house, across the lawn towards the west, to a small merry–go–round near where the lawn met a grove of maple trees.
Sonya hurried over and turned to Henry.“Why is there a merry–go–round here?”
Henry shook his head.“I don’t know. I don’t know who put it here.”
Sonya sat down, looking expectantly at Henry.
He smiled and pushed her.
“There’s a merry–go–round like this in the small plaza near my old house. When I was little, my friends and I would go there. There were always a lot of kids, so we had to wait a long time, and we could only ride for a short time. My dream was to have one in my own yard, so my friends and I could play all day.”
“You can ride it all day today,” Henry said.
Sonya sat on the merry–go–round, looking up at the clear blue sky, the slightly misty lawn, the crimson maple trees–a sea of flame. She looked at Henry, smiling as brightly as everything around them.
He narrowed his eyes, told her to hold on tight, and gave her a few quick spins. Then he jumped on, hugged her, and kissed her in the soft morning mist.
They spent a long time on the merry–go–round.
When the sun rose, Henry took Sonya to the glass sunroom.
It was carpeted with thick, plush rugs, surrounded by floor–to–ceiling bookshelves filled with books.
Henry picked up a book; Sonya found one too and settled on his lap to read. She loved this.
After a few pages, she realized she hadn’t read a word, didn’t even know what book she was holding. She looked at the cover: a history book on the Warring States period.
Sonya blushed, resolving to pull herself away from the distraction and actually read.
Time drifted by, filled only with the rustle of pages. Sonya gradually became interested, reading page after page, then stopped at a passage with a note written in the margin.
“If one day I disappear, you must find me. You absolutely must.”
The writing was a little messy, but there was a reply below.
“Okay.”
Sonya’s heart skipped a beat. She looked up at Henry.
“What’s wrong?” Henry raised an eyebrow.

Henry paused, then shook his head.“No.”
“Really?”
“No,” Henry said earnestly.
Sonya hummed and lay back down to read.
Henry kissed her and went back to his book.
‘But Sonya kept looking at the note and the reply, feeling like she’d stumbled upon a piece of Henry’s past, a promise to another woman.
It was the past. Everyone has a past, yet a pang of jealousy stung her.
Sonya sat up again, pretending to look for a book. She walked around the bookshelves, pulled out a book, found pen, opened a a

He started searching, meticulously checking every book, every page. Sonya sat on the rug, watching him earnestly searching for her childish message.
She realized she was selfish. She wanted Henry entirely to herself, body and soul.
As he’d said, there were thousands of books. Finding her message was going to be difficult. Darkness fell, and Henry was still searching.
Sonya felt guilty. She wanted to tell him to stop, but she also wasn’t ready to give up. He showed no sign of impatience or wanting to give up. He kept searching, one book after another, until he found it.
He read the message, silently.
Sonya’s heart pounded. Maybe she shouldn’t have asked…
Henry took the pen and replied below her message.
Sonya: Henry, can you only love Sonya for the rest

life?
Henry: I love you, Sonya, forever.
He showed it to Sonya. Her heart swelled, brimming with emotion.
“Sonya.”
“Yes?”
