Marry My Ex's Sworn Enemy (Sonya) novel Chapter 84

Chapter 84: That’s My SisterinLaw, Right

The man in sunglasses emerged, witnessed the scene, and folded his arms, clearly unwilling to intervene. Mr. Sterling, startled, pulled harder on Sophia

Through the open door, Sophia saw a smoky, trashed room. A short, stout man knelt on the floor, his clothes dirty, torn, and stained with blood he was clearly being beaten

Sophia looked at the men seated around the table, their faces obscured by smoke, some laughing, some talking, some drinking. A semblance of harmony, yet an underlying menace permeated the

air

The man directly opposite the entrance leaned back, tapping his cigarette butt with his index finger. Someone leaned in to speak to him; he smirked slightly, shaking his head. HoneySophia whispered, stunned

At the sound of her voice, the man looked up. His brow furrowed when he saw her. He stood and walked out

Sean reached the doorway to see Sophia being dragged by Mr. Sterling. In two strides, he was beside her, pulling her into his arms and simultaneously kicking Mr. Sterling to the ground. Mr. Sterling rolled twice, his anger flaring. He pointed at Sean, about to yell, when the man int sunglasses grabbed his outstretched finger and snapped it

Aaah!Mr. Sterling screamed in agony

The others froze, then scrambled back in fear

Did he touch you?Sean whispered to Sophia, his voice low and dangerous Sophia was still reeling from the shock, so she simply nodded

Sean pulled her closer, then glanced at the man in sunglasses. The man immediately understood and proceeded to beat Mr. Sterling mercilessly

Sophia flinched. Sean turned her away from the scene

II’m okay. Stop hitting him, stop it!she pleaded.Don’t kill him!”

Sean kissed Sophia’s forehead, trying to reassure her, and gestured for the man in sunglasses to

stop

Once the man stopped, he uttered a single word, Scram!and the men scattered, fleeing the scene. in a panicked retreat

Leaning against Sean, Sophia breathed a sigh of relief, then noticed the strong smell of cigarettes. and alcohol on him

Mr. Sullivan, that’s your sisterinlaw, right?”

as

sisterinlaw.”

A man with graying hair approached, addressing Sophia Sean held the back of Sophia’s head, preventing her from turning to face them. Yeah, let’s just leave it at that.”

Why not invite your sisterinlaw in for a drink?”

She doesn’t like this kind of place. Let’s just go.”

Right, we’re a bunch of smelly old guys. We don’t want to offend your sisterinlaw.”

Sean smiled thinly at the man. T’ll treat everyone next time.”

Oh, we wouldn’t dare. If you’d only grace us with your presence, we’ll treat you.”

Let’s arrange it then.”

Excellent, excellent.”

Sean’s voice was cold and commanding as he spoke to the man. Once in the car, he pulled her into his arms and kissed her a passionate, tender kiss

Never go

go to a place like that again. The command was absolute, yet delivered with surprising gentleness

Sophia hugged Sean’s neck and nodded

Those men…

Don’t worry about them.”

Oh.”

You drank too, didn’t you?he asked, his Just one glass, she whispered

forehead resting against hers

Sean glanced at the cut on her forehead and chuckled softly.Let me taste what it was like.” Sophia blushed and leaned in, instantly pulled close by his deep kiss

To clear the alcohol from his system, Sean pulled Sophia out of the car a short distance from their villa complex. They walked home hand in hand, the quiet street nearly deserted. Honey.”

Yes?”

I hope we stay like this forever, never change.”

Sean squeezed her hand. We will change.”

Why?Sophia was disappointed

Sean smiled. I’ll only love you more and more.”

Sophia smiled, leaning against his arm, occasionally glancing up at him. The moon shone bright above, but Sean was even more captivating beneath it

Honey, you’re so handsome.”

Sean nodded. I know. I look in the mirror every day. But I’m still happy to hear you say it. It means I have good taste in wives.”

Sophia laughed until she had no strength left, refusing to walk, demanding a piggyback ride. Sean lifted her onto his back and walked slowly, steadily

At a crossroads, Sophia saw the elderly woman again, her son in his wheelchair. It must have been cold; she had wrapped a scarf around her son, covering his face, leaving only his eyes

visible

The elderly woman was selling oranges; she had only one basket left. Sophia tapped Sean, asking him to put her down. She went to buy

woman asked

Sophia smiled. I gave some away. Not many left

She looked at the basket of oranges; there must have been twenty or more pounds. Honey, let’s buy them, she asked Sean

Sean raised an eyebrow. You want me to carry them home?”

Sophia nodded. It’s not heavy.”

Sean grunted, bent down, lifted the basket, and

basket, and slung it onto his shoulder.. Sophia paid, then caught up with him, crossing the street together..

Oh, honey, won’t the basket ruin your co

coat?”

If it does, so be it.”

It was an expensive coat; she remembered seeing the label when she was organizing his closet. Should I patch it for you?”

And you want me to go to work with a patched coat? Don’t you think my colleagues would laugh?”

Ha! My wife patched it! They’ll be green with envy!”

They laughed as they walked, Sophia looking at the cars when she noticed a shadow behind them. She glanced back and saw the elderly woman following them, holding a fruit knife. Sophia was startled. Ma’am, what are you doing?”
