Chapter 88: We’ll Discuss It Tonight
That afternoon, Sean’s uncle,
uncle, Xavier, called and invited them to dinner.
Sophia arrived first; Sean had a meeting at the company.
“Auntie, over here!”
At the upscale restaurant, Sophia entered to find Xavier waving. She nodded and went over to where Vivian was sitting.
“Good evening, Ms. White,” Sophia greeted her politely.
Vivian stood and shook Sophia’s hand.“Mrs. Sullivan, it’s a pleasure.”
Her formality made Sophia slightly uncomfortable.
After they sat down, Xavier asked about Sean, and Sophia explained he was at a meeting and
would join them later.
“My uncle works too hard! If I got married, I’d take a year off. Travel, party–have a blast!” Xavier exclaimed.
Vivian snorted.“You could take a year off now. Reynolds Corp would function just as well without you.”
“Hey, that’s harsh. I’m still a branch manager.”
“I heard that branch went bankrupt?”
“Why bring that up? Can’t we just enjoy dinner?”
They were clearly close, bantering easily.
Xavier went outside for a cigarette, and Vivian ordered Sophia
“Thank you.”
coffee.
Sophia thanked her, then remembered calling Chloe earlier about her acting prospects. Director – Davis had recommended Chloe for Vivian’s show, but she’d contacted the assistant director, who, upon hearing Chloe lacked well–known roles, had rejected her application.
“Ms. White, have you finalized the cast for your show?” Sophia
Vivian smiled.“Mrs. Sullivan has someone she’d like to recommend?”
“Yes, a friend of mine.”
Vivian nodded but didn’t comment.
Seeing her reaction, Sophia dropped the subject.
asked.
“By the way, I mentioned earlier about wanting you to be the on–set doctor for our production. Have you thought about it?”
Sophia considered this, then smiled.“I’m my friend’s manager now, but if she’s lucky enough to be cast in Ms. White’s show, I could definitely take on the role of on–set doctor.”
She wasn’t sure why Vivian was so insistent on having her as the doctor, but bringing it up now was clearly a bargaining chip.
“That’s easy. Have your friend audition at my studio tomorrow.”
“Wonderful!”

Xavier returned, inquiring about Sean’s whereabouts.
Sophia texted Sean, and he replied that he was on his way.
“I’m starving. Let’s order,” Xavier said.

The waiter asked how they wanted their steaks cooked. Xavier and Vivian placed their orders;
medium–rare well–done–she didn’t like rare or Sophia requested hers
“And the other one?”
The waiter was referring to Sean’s steak. Sophia didn’t know his preference.
“Medium–rare,” Vivian said.
Sophia’s gaze shifted to Vivian, intrigued.
Vivian acted as if nothing was amiss, continuing her conversation with Xavier “Actually, whether my uncle comes or not doesn’t matter. You can just tell my aunt,” Xavier said. Vivian took a sip of her coffee, a subtle smile playing on her lips. I think it’s better to talk to Sean directly.”
“My aunt agreed, so my uncle won’t have any objections.”
“Really? Not necessarily.”
Vivian turned to Sophia, explaining, “It’s about work, and I don’t want to trouble Mrs. Sullivan, so it’s better to talk to Sean directly.”
Sophia smiled faintly. She didn’t want to trouble Sophia, but she was happy to bother hef husband?
Olivorre enough, Sean arrived shortly.
Dressed in a sharp suit, he approached the table, greeting Xavier and Vivian before bending to kiss Sophia on the head. He then casually unbuttoned his jacket, handing it to the waiter.
“Did you order?” he asked.
“Yes,” Xavier replied.
Sean turned to Sophia. “Anything you’d like?”
Sophia nodded. “It’s fine.”
“Ms. Ella doesn’t like Western food?” Vivian inquired.
“It’s not that she doesn’t like Western food; she just doesn’t like food made by anyone but me,” Sean said, glancing at Vivian.
Sophia stifled a laugh.

You’re too harsh!”
“As your uncle, it’s my duty to teach you manners. Now pour some wine and toast your uncle
three times.”
“You…”

Are you hoping I’ll clean up your mess again?”
Xavier, defeated, poured three glasses of wine and downed them..
“Uncle, I’m under your wing now. Please treat me like a human. Oh, and Auntie, if Unde ever decides to do me in, please intervene. I’ll drink to that!”
Xavier drank another glass.
