Marrying the Man in the Dark (Damien and Cherise) novel Chapter 718

Chapter 718 Marry Him

How will my colleagues react if they discover I’m Damien’s ruthless ex-wife? Will they turn against me?

Cherise was speaking with her female colleague when Damien caught sight of her petite silhouette from a distance. He strolled towards Cherise with a faint smile as he cradled a large bouquet of roses.

Cherise could hear her female colleagues’ audible gasps. She pursed her lips and stood at her spot, bracing herself for what was about to happen.

But Damien halted unexpectedly when he was merely two steps away from her. He knelt on one knee while holding a large bouquet of roses and gazed at her delicate face.

His usual stern expression was replaced by an affectionate one as he said her name in a low, tender voice. “Cherise.” His gentle and loving tone instantly soothed Cherise’s anxious and exasperated feelings. She looked down at him. “Mm.”

Everyone around her gasped in succession, and the institute’s female employees started whispering as they discussed it among themselves.

The female colleague who had conversed with Cherise was utterly taken aback at that moment. Is Dr. Shaw the other woman Damien fell for?

“Marry me.” Damien looked at Cherise with a warm smile. “I want to start over with you as my fiancée. His dark eyes brimmed with deep affection. “Will you marry me?”

Cherise bit her lip. Her face was slightly flushed, and her heart was in turmoil. She had assumed… that Damien was merely here as a romantic gesture. She hadn’t expected that… he was actually here to propose.

“Marry him!” A middle-aged man’s enthusiastic voice rang in the crowd. “Marry him!” Cherise was startled and instinctively looked up to see her supervisor, Mr. Whitlock, grinning amongst the crowd.

Once Mr. Whitlock started to chant, everyone else around him followed suit. “Marry him!” The research institute employees around them began clapping, cheering, and hooting. “Marry him!”

Cherise’s face turned a crimson red, and she turned away in embarrassment. “You expect me to accept your proposal with just roses? Are you even taking this seriously?”

Damien furrowed his brows and gazed at her intently. “Am I not taking this seriously?” Every word he uttered was heartfelt. He was earnest about his proposal.

Cherise extended her hand while blushing. “How can you propose without a ring?” Her voice was slightly shy.

The people around them started chanting again. “Ring! Ring! Ring!”

Damien understood, and he smiled at Cherise. “You’ll find out if you take the roses.”

Cherise pouted and protested playfully, something she rarely did. “You have to bring the roses to me.”

The man smiled helplessly. He plucked the rose from the center of the bouquet and peeled back the petals, revealing a red velvet jewelry box.
