Marrying the Ugly Heir for Truth and Wealth novel Chapter 560

Chapter 560 Both Sides Hurt

Hidden in the shadows, Emilia had been eavesdropping. At Gideon's words, her phone slipped from her grip, clattering to the ground. The sound drew the attention of both Sharon and Gideon.

Upon seeing Emilia, Gideon's face turned ghastly as though he had seen a ghost. His mind spun, not even affording him the time to bid Sharon goodbye before he turned to leave.

At this, Emilia scrambled for her fallen phone and dashed toward Gideon. Catching up to him, she started to confront him.

“Gideon Steele, you better explain yourself! What have you done behind our backs that have wronged my mother and me? Before our family went bankrupt, did you conspire with that wretched woman to divert assets from the family? Did our bankruptcy come about because you shifted such a massive amount of assets?”

Gideon kept his head low, fiercely trying to break free from the hand holding his shoulder.

His silence only served to further stoke Emilia's anger, and her fury exploded like a volcano. “Have you gone mute? Answer me!”

Gideon finally halted, meeting Emilia's gaze. “Those are all your assumptions. None of that is true!”

Emilia sneered coldly before turning to yank at Sharon who was standing on the stairs.

Sharon, weak these past few days and caught off guard by Emilia’s strength, almost fell.

Reacting quickly, Gideon rushed to catch Sharon and forcefully shoved Emilia away. “Emilia, have you lost your mind?”

The commotion at the hospital entrance quickly drew a crowd of onlookers.

Emilia's piercing scream echoed through the hospital. “I was driven to madness by you two. Gideon, if you don't explain yourself today, neither you nor this wretched woman will be able to leave this hospital”

Her elbow was bleeding from the extreme strain, but she paid it no mind.

She stood there like a mad woman, her eyes fiercely locked onto Gideon and Sharon.

Sharon pulled her hand back and fixed a stare at Emilia. “Your father and I have been divorced for years. We have no connection to each other anymore. I never took the Steele family’s assets. This is your family matter, and I'm not in a position to interfere. It would be best if you two sat down calmly and talked things over.”

Emilia leveled a frosty glare at her. “Such pompous words, but aren't you basking in luxury just because Christina married Nathaniel? If I had been the one to marry Nathaniel, you would have died in the hospital by now.”

Having unleashed her verbal attack on Sharon, Emilia found her anger was still not abated. Turning toward Gideon, her tirade became a torrent of biting sarcasm.

“Gideon, open your eyes and see the reality. Your once beloved ex- wife is now the esteemed in-law of the Hadley family, while you have fallen so low that you're less than a beggar. This wretched woman wouldn't even bat an eyelash in your direction. Where did you get the audacity to pursue her? If you desire to win back their affection, I won't stand in your way. But remember, I am also your daughter. Not only did you withhold your fortune from us, but you were also intent on wiping us out entirely. Still clinging to the remnants of old love, are you? Let me destroy her face today to vent my mother's rage!”

As her words hung in the air, Emilia fished a pen from her purse, yanked off the cover, and charged toward Sharon like a deranged woman.

Unaccustomed to such intense encounters, Sharon was rooted to the spot, paralyzed with fear.

Despite his frail and ailing body, Gideon put himself between the two women. During the scuffle, Sharon was forcefully pushed into the nearby flower bed.

His vision blurred, his hearing muffled, and he could only faintly see the receding figures of Sharon and Christina.

“This is my family matter, and it’s none of your business. Let me go!” Emilia panicked when she heard the head of the security team saying they would send her to the police station. “If you don't believe me, go ask him. I'm his daughter.”

The head of the security team chided, “How could you, as his daughter, beat him up this badly? I would have believed you if you said that he was your enemy. Well, whatever you have to say, say it to the police. You're at fault for causing a commotion in the public.”

Then, he ordered his team to send her away.

Christina was anxiously waiting outside while Sharon was being treated for her injuries in the outpatient clinic. In her nervous disarray, she contacted Nathaniel.

“Nat, Mom's hurt. She's bleeding all over, and I'm all alone in the hospital... I'm so scared.” Her voice wavered, a trembling note of fear threaded through her words.

“Where are you? I'll come to you right away. Don't worry. I'm here for you,” the man on the other end replied.

Nathaniel, clutching his phone, sprang up from his seat and made a swift exit from the conference room, leaving the room full of high- ranking executives exchanging puzzled glances.

After sharing her location with Nathaniel, Christina sat on a bench in the long corridor. Her body shivered from a cold that seemed to seep into her very bones.

Then, quite suddenly, she was enveloped in a warm, heavy coat. The comforting scent of Nathaniel wafted up from its fabric. She rose and practically threw herself into his waiting arms.

“You're finally here!” she cried out.
