Yvette approached Alice while Leilani and Amanda pretended to just notice her arrival. 

Leilani greeted cautiously, “Hello, I’m Leilani, the eldest daughter of the Markos family. Are you both guests of the presidential palace?“, 

Leilani was not clueless. She knew she needed to assess a person’s status before deciding how to treat them. 

Anyone visiting the presidential palace would surely be of wealth and importance, with a notable status that she could not afford to offend. 

As Emmett stepped forward, Leilani’s eyes immediately fixated on his clothing–an exclusive.collection from Vibe of only 15 pieces worldwide. 

She had tried to buy one for Demetrius, but even she was powerless to obtain it as she had been told they were all sold out. 

Neither Yvette nor Emmett spared Leilani a second glance, their attention elsewhere. Yvette’s eyes darkened like the abyss, narrowing slightly.

The shift in Alice’s behavior stunned everyone but Yvette and Alice herself. No one had expected such a clear, coherent response from Alice, especially given her intellectual disability. 

Leilani, for reasons she could not explain, felt a sudden pang of anxiety. 

Her mind raced. ‘Alice is mentally impaired, incapable of speaking up, but can someone like her really say something so coherent?‘

But before Leilani could finish, Yvette brought out a gun from her pockets, pointing its barrel directly at Leilani. Shock flooded her senses, and her expensive purse fell from her grasp, crashing to the floor. 

For a brief moment, everything was frozen. Then, Yvette’s lips curled into a casual smile as she holstered the weapon without a hint of urgency. 

Emmett was momentarily taken aback by Yvette’s actions, thinking, ‘Why stop now? Yvette’s infamous for her temper, and being in the presidential palace shouldn’t have stopped her from going through with it.‘ 

Seeing Yvette put the gun away, Leilani, now recovering from her fear, took on a smug attitude. 

‘So, that’s what she was doing–trying to intimidate me. Who’s going to shoot in the presidential palace? That would be a death wish,‘ she mused. 

But Amanda, ever cautious, was not so easily reassured. She knew that after clearing four levels of security, there was no way a dangerous item should have slipped through the cracks, let alone a gun.
