Thiago felt as if he had fallen into an icy abyss. His face instantly turned ghastly pale. “Y–You actually- How could you?” he stammered. 

At the door, Yvette stood with an air of dominance and a devilish smirk, exuding an irreverent arrogance. Her sharp gaze fell on the stunned Thiago, who stood frozen inside the room. Her voice was as cold and detached as ever. “Hello there.” 

At her feet lay two men, beaten beyond recognition and unconscious, on either side of her. Thiago heard Yvette’s voice and instinctively took two steps back, his body stiff with fear. 

“Why isn’t this woman unconscious? Why are the men I sent lying there instead? What has happened in such a short time?” he wondered. 

The next second, Yvette delivered a kick, sending Thiago back into the room. She then effortlessly hoisted the two unconscious men at the door and flung them inside as well. 

Thiago sprawled on the floor and clutched his chest in pain. He had already taken a hard blow from Jeremiah earlier, and now Yvette’s kick made breathing even harder for him. His face twisted in agony. 

Yvette narrowed her eyes, watching Thiago’s stunned expression as he lay on the ground. She walked leisurely to the couch and sat down, calm and unbothered. 

A sly curl played on her lips as her eyes glinted with icy sharpness. Her voice was slow and deliberate as she said, “What’s the matter? Wondering why the drug didn’t work on me?” 

Thiago immediately realized that his entire scheme had been exposed upon hearing her words. His fiery red hair contrasted sharply with his pale, ghostly complexion, and his face was filled with disbelief and resentment. 

“I saw you drink it with my own eyes! How could you not be affected? That aphrodisiac has no flaws–we’ve used it countless times before. What went wrong this time?” Thiago’s voice quivered with frustration as he desperately sought an explanation. Yvette sat cross–legged on the couch, her expression impassive. Her delicate brows arched slightly as she smirked. “Oh, your drug is fine. The problem is-” she paused for a moment. “The target is me,” she said, her tone casual and indifferent. 

Then Yvette stood up and approached Thiago. Without hesitation, she planted her right foot firmly on his hand. Thiago struggled to free his hand, but no matter how much strength he mustered, it was pinned to the ground, immovable. Thiago’s eyes widened incredulously as he exerted all his strength without success. ‘How could Yvette be so strong?‘ he wondered. 

Before he could dwell on it further, Yvette’s expression turned blank, and she pressed harder. 

A searing pain shot through Thiago’s hand, sharp and excruciating. His anguished screams echoed throughout the room. In mere moments, his fingers were crushed. 

Five minutes later, Thiago was sprawled on the floor like a broken dog, glaring venomously at Yvette. “You–do you know who’s behind me? I’m with Steel Serpents, the largest gang in Ybaulla. You’re dead for this!” he spat venomously. 

Yvette casually raised her eyelids, exposing a sliver of her wrist. Her eyes held a trace of mocking indifference as she said, “Steel Serpents?” 

Thiago thought she was finally afraid. “Yes, the Steel Serpents! Let me tell you, I’m good friends with Mr. Barnes, their faction leader,” he sneered, summoning the little strength he had 

He continued, “If I tell him, he’ll kill you without hesitation. If you don’t want to die, kneel down, apologize, and strip yourself clean. Maybe, if I’m in a good mood, I’ll let you off this time.”

Yvette’s gaze grew lazy. Her tone remained light, almost casual. She said, “I will wait for your good friend to avenge you. For now, enjoy yourself.” 

Beaten half to death, Thiago couldn’t comprehend Yvette’s intentions. He was confused, wondering, ‘What’s there to enjoy? Does this woman even understand who the Steel Serpents are? How dare she provokes them?‘ he pondered. 

Yvette ignored him and walked over to the two unconscious men Without hesitation, she kicked them both awake. Then she pulled two pills from her pocket and stuffed them into their mouths. 

The groggy men, barely regaining consciousness, felt something slide down their throats before they could react. They tried to cough it up, but it was too late. 

They stared at Yvette wide–eyed–the memories of what had happened earlier flooded back. 

Just ten minutes ago, as the two men stepped out of the clevator and moved to seize Yvette, she swiftly countered with a powerful kick, sending them crashing into the corner. 

What followed was a merciless, one–sided beating. No matter how much they had pleaded for mercy, her expression never changed. She was ruthless, like a demon. 

Now fully awake, the two men cowered in the corner, trembling with fear and desperation. Their faces were pitiful as one of the men begged, “Miss, it wasn’t personal! We were just paid to do it! Please, we’re sorry. We won’t do it again. Please spare us!” 

“Yes, Miss, we’ve never done anything like this before. It was a mistake. Please, we beg you–just this once, forgive us,” the other man pleaded. 

The two grown men sobbed and pleaded on their knees, completely discarding any sense of dignity. 

Yvette glanced down at them, her lips curving into a sinister smile. “Now, drag him onto the bed,” she ordered. 

The two men exchanged panicked glances. They hesitated when they saw Thiago slumped on the floor, clearly tortured. Yvette raised an eyebrow and swept her cold gaze over them. With her hands in her pockets, she tilted her head and drawled lazily, “What’s wrong? You don’t want to?” 

A shiver ran down their spines 

as they felt her icy gaze. “Miss, we’ll do it. We’ll do it. What did you make us swallow earlier?”
