Jeremiah looked at the laptop as he remained deep in thought for a few moments. “Inform them that in four months, I will find them a new instructor. They’ll be free to leave seclusion after passing the new instructor’s assessment.” 

Immediately, Emmett knew Jeremiah’s intentions. Undoubtedly, the new instructor is going to be Yvette. There’s nobody else, he thought. “Understood. I’ll inform the Wolfpack right away,” Emmett replied.

At the door, Emmett quickly took out his phone and sent the signal using encryption exclusive to the Wolfpack. 

Emmett knew that Jeremiah intended for Yvette to discover his secret in four months. Besides being Clusia’s Major General, Jeremiah was also the secret leader of the Wolfpack mercenary mop–the one and only King of Darkness. 

“The difference between his identities is like day and night. How will Yvette react when she finds out? I can’t even begin to imagine the look on her face, Emmett mused. 

Back in the room, Jeremiah took out his phone and unlocked it. The wallpaper depicted a picture of Yvette sleeping peacefully, her serene expression a contrast against her usually icy demeanor. Lovingly, he gazed at the picture. 

After Emmett’s departure, Yelena emerged from a corner. Her gaze never wavered from Emmett’s retreating figure. He’s going to throw a wrench in my plans later on, she thought.

Yelena stood before Jeremiah’s door for a full five minutes before reluctantly leaving. This time, she had a look of determination painted on her face. 

Meanwhile, on the other side of the ship, Yvette left the helm and walked to the deck. Mischief gleamed in her eyes as she watched the red dots on her phone get closer. ‘Looks like there’s another group of long–lost “friends“, she thought.

Her gaze downturned, she rested a defined hand on the railing. The turquoise ocean was shrouded in mist as its calm, blur waves merged with the color of the skyline. The billowing salty breeze left Yvette feeling refreshed and energized. 

As the ship approached the Gulf of Araquiel, Emmett exited the control room. Coincidentally, he bumped into Yelena, who’d changed into civilian clothing 

Since this operation was covert, everyone had to be dressed like givilians until all hostages were safely rescued. To ensure personal safety, it was forbidden to reveal their identities. 

Emmett merely gave her a cursory glance before walking away. However, Yelena called after him. “Mr. Chavez, I fear you might have some misunderstandings about me. Is there something I’ve done to upset you? If so, please let me know.” 

“This is the first time I’ve been selected to work closely with Mr. Jeremiah Chavez. Moreover, we might work together in the future too. Therefore, we should communicate openly with each other, don’t you think?” Yelena continued humbly. 

Yelena’s confidence stemmed from her background. She was the third–generation descendant of powerful fighters and revolutionaries. Her grandfather was born of the same generation as Jase Chavez. Therefore, Yelena was almost on par with Samantha herself. 

Emmett was silent for a few seconds before turning around to face a sincere Yelena. “Ms. Lynch, you’re too humble. I have no issues with you,” he said curtly. 

With that, Emmett spun on his heel and left Yelena behind, giving her no face. Deep down, Yelena knew exactly why Emmett harbored a grudge against her. 

Rumors about Jeremiah’s highly regarded girlfriend had been circulating in Betrico for quite some time. So what if he has a girlfriend? I’m Yelena Lynch, and there is nothing I can’t obtain once I set my mind to it, Yelena thought. 

Besides, I’m the one accompanying Mr. Chavez on missions. What can his girlfriend do except run some minor businesses? She’s hardly noteworthy! Yelena sneered inwardly.
