Chapter 679
Yelena held up both her hands in a submissive gesture, saying.m sorry, Ms. Zeller. I was out of line earlier, but I hope you won’t hold it against me. I have no bad intentions, trust me.”
Yvette narrowed her eyes, looking at Yelena with interest while ying nonchalantly, “Go on.”
Her demeanor irked Yelena. Though irritated, she could only pretend to be unfazed, maintaining an amicable smile.
She said, “Ms. Zeller, you probably don’t know who Mr. Chavez eally is. He’s a major general in Clusia and is from a prestigious family. As a fellow Clusian, you should know how influential he is. At his current age, his future is full of possibilities.”
Pausing, she added, “As you know, Mr. Chavez can’t truly be in love with you. I’ll admit, you’re very beautiful, but to him, you’re nothing more than a fleeting novelty. He won’t stay with you forever in Spaunia, let alone grant you any official
status”
“I just don’t want to see you abandoned in the end. I hope you can walk away from this before it’s too late. Yelena acted like she genuinely cared about Yvette and hoped she wouldn’t get herself hurt.
Yvette didn’t so much as glance at Yelena, a frivolous, almost cynical glint in her eyes. With a nonchalant tone, she replied, “I enjoy casual flings. Who says I care about titles?”
Yelena was momentarily stunned. To her, Yvette’s brazen claim of not wanting status was utterly shameless. She couldn’t fathom any woman willingly rejecting such an opportunity–especially when it involved someone like Jeremiah. The idea was simply inconceivable.
Seeing Yvette’ss stubbornness, Yelena steeld herself before finally bringing up Jeremiah’s fiancée. Adopting a sincere tone, she said, “Let me be honest with you. Mr. Chavez has a legitimate fiancée. She’s the mastermind behind the luxury brand “Vibe, and their relationship is strong.
“Everyone in Betrico’s social circles knows how close these two are, especially Mr. Chavez’s mother.” Yelena deliberately paused to let it sink in before adding, “His mother, Aurora Chavez, adores her future daughter–in–law.
She went on, “She’s even said that if Mr. Chavez doesn’t marry that girl, he might as well stay single for the rest of his life. Everyone in our circle knows that no one can dethrone his fiancee, and I doubt that you can change that, Ms. Zeller.
“Mrs. Chavez will never accept you, so you’d better keep your distance from him. If this goes any further, you’ll only end up hurt.” Yelena carefully gauged Yvette’s reaction as she spoke and finally caught a subtle shift in Yvette’s gaze when Jeremiah’s fiancée was mentioned.
She was pretending all along. Now that she knows Mr. Chavez is engaged, she’ll have no choice but to let go of her delusional fantasies, Yelena thought to herself.
In truth, Yelena felt upset bringing up Aurora, Jeremiah’s mother, too. Just a few months ago, news had spread across. Betrico’s high society that Aurora had received hundreds of haute couture gowns from Vibe, creating a significant buzz, in the fashion world.
It wasn’t long before everyone found out that Jeremiah’s girlfriend was, in fact, the legendary mastermind behind Vibe.
In Yelena’s view, all the lavish gifts and pampering of Aurora were nothing more than calculated moves by Jeremiah’s girlfriend to win her favor. She wondered what kind of spell Aurora was under to be so fervently protective of her.
On one occasion, a wealthy socialite gossiped about Jeremiah’s girlfriend, only for Aurora to retaliate by abruptly terminating a business collaboration with the woman’s husband. Ultimately, the socialite was forced to issue a public apology.
Yelena thought. If Mr. Chavez ever decides to marry someone else, there’s no way Mrs. Chavez would stand in his way. After

all, who prioritizes a future–daughter–in–law over their own son
With my family background and close ties to the Chavez family once I find the perfect opportunity to unseat Mr. Chavez’s wife, Mrs. Chavez won’t oppose the powerful alliance our familles would create.
Yvette arched an eyebrow, a wicked glint flickering across her expression before a sudden smile curved her lips. Her gaze shifted to Yelena, filled with sharp curiosity. Then, in a voice dripping with indifference, she drawled, “Have you ever met Jeremiah’s fiancée?”
Although Yelena had never met her, she gritted her teeth and needed to make her words sound convincing.
She said. “Of course, I have! We’re good friends, She’s an incredible, capable woman–starting a fashion empire like Vibe at such a young age. I just don’t want to see my friend get hurt.”
She added, “If you end things with Mr. Chavez, I promise I’ll keep this secret forever. I won’t breathe a word to anyone, not soul. But Ms. Zeller, you really shouldn’t get involved with a man who’s already engaged, no matter the circumstances.”
Yvette stood there, one eyebrow raised, exuding a blend of devilish charm and arrogance. Her face remained impassive, save for a faint smile that played on her lips. Her gaze locked onto Yelena. “Since when did she have a ‘good friend‘ like you?”
Yelena assumed Yvette was simply being stubborn, unwilling to acknowledge her role as the mistress. Patiently, she continued, “Why are you fussing over such trivialities? Let me be blunt–associating with these pirates will never make you a worthy match for Mr. Chavez.”
Pausing, she added, “You’re relying on your looks now, but when time inevitably takes that away, how will you hold onto Mr. Chavez’s heart? And let’s be real–a respected Clusian major general being involved with someone who fraternizes with pirates? His reputation would be ruined”
