After Yelena had finished yelling, she felt much better. She wanted to see if Yvette truly did not care about Jeremiah having a fance, just as she had claimed

Jeremiah did not bother to say another word to Yelena or even give her another look. He turned and walked away, followed by Frankie and Chris. 

Yelena slumped to the ground in tears, utterly devastated. Her family had always prided itself on being Jase’s life–saving benefactors. That connection had shielded them from political scrutiny and given them many privileges.

Yelena stared blankly, unable to comprehend. Her body went limp and collapsed to the ground. Her face turned deathly pale and lacked any vitality. 

“Are you saying she’s Mr. Chavez’s fiancée? The legendary Yvette? Mr. Chavez’s fiancée? That’s impossible! How could the owner of a fashion company know pirates? Emmett, stop making up stories!” she yelled.

Emmett watched the hysterical Yelena with impatience. He crouched down and quickly struck her in the neck, knocking her unconscious. Emmett found it difficult to describe her foolishness as he looked at the unconscious Yelena.

Yvette clearly cared for the Chavez family but was too stubborn to admit it. Otherwise, given her temperament, Yelena wouldn’t have survived to see him, let alone get a chance to talk to him.
