Emmett nodded. He wasn’t worried about the day after tomorrow’s wedding. When Orlando sent the invitation, he probably never imagined Yvette would be here, ready to confront him. Sometimes, for some people, when it rained, it poured, 

And besides, everyone knew how incredibly strong Yvette was; if she said there was no need for Jeremiah to be involved, it meant she had everything under control. 

Jeremiah came downstairs from the second floor right after Yvette had said that. His expression was grave and his gaze. gloomy, as his body was enveloped in a tense air. But when he saw Yvette curled up on the couch, his icy demeanor completely vanished. 

Jeremiah walked over and said, “Something happened in Betrico I need to head back but Emmett and the others will stay and return to Mysonna with you.” 

Upon hearing this, Yvette squinted before adjusting her position and leisurely leaning back into the couch. She stared at Jeremiah for several seconds before saying, “Alright. When are you leaving?” 

Jeremiah lowered his gaze, looked at his watch, and replied in a deep voice, “I need to leave now.” 

Emmett and Chris were shocked. ‘Why is Mr. Chavez leaving so hastily? Something big must have happened in Betrico, or Mr. Chavez wouldn’t be rushing back immediately, they wondered as they stood silently at the side. 

There was no way Yvette didn’t have similar thoughts as Emmett and Chris but she just gazed into Jeremiah’s eyes with her deep, half–closed eyes. “Okay. Got it,” she chirped, her expression serene. 

Jeremiah signaled Emmett and Chris with a look, prompting them to leave the living room and give them some privacy. Taking Yvette’s hand gently, he whispered, “I’ll come back to Mysonna after I handle things in Betrico.” 

Yvette nodded casually. “Okay. Go ahead. Aren’t you in a rush?” 

Jeremiah glanced at his watch. Realizing he was late, he whispered, “Wait for me,” before leaving. 

Sitting on the couch, Yvette watched Jeremiah’s broad back as he walked away. Smiling, she thought in amusement, “This is interesting. It seems like Jeremiah is keeping secrets from me.‘ 

At the entrance, Emmett had the car ready. Seeing Jeremiah coming out, Emmett said, “Mr. Chavez, I’ll drive you to the airport.” 

Years of familiarity made any explanations unnecessary; just from Jeremiah’s earlier words, Emmett was aware something urgent had come up in Betrico. 

While driving, Emmett asked, “Mr. Chavez, what happened in Betrico?” 

Jeremiah’s gaze turned cold, his deep eyes shining with a dangerous glint. “The higher–ups want me back in Betrico. Yelena reported that Yvette collaborated with Spaunia pirates and intentionally harmed her.” 

Emmett was left speechless by this, thinking, ‘Yelena really has some nerve. I can’t believe she even tried to turn the situation around after returning to Betrico. This mission wouldn’t have gone so smoothly if it weren’t for Yvette! 

‘Intentional harm? It was clearly her manipulating things and sowing discord between Mr. Chavez and Yvette that got her reprimanded. I can’t believe she has the audacity to report it to the higher–ups.‘ 

Emmett frowned. “Mr. Chavez, is Yelena an idiot, or has the the Lynch family lost it?” 

Jeremiah’s deep–set eyes were as icy as he growled, “Since they want to stir things up, I’ll grant their wish then.”

Emmett remained silent, musing while he drove, “The Lynch family has brought doom upon themselves by slandering Yvette and challenging Jeremiah’s bottom line. Plus, both Mr. Jase Chavez and Mrs. Chavez, adore Yvette. 

Emmett knew that once Jeremiah returned to Betrico, the Lynch family’s political future was effectively over. After dropping Jeremiah off at the airport, Emmett drove back to Bruno’s base. 

As soon as he parked the car, Frankie appeared out of nowhere like a ghost and declared, “Emmett, I’m officially letting you know that Yvette wants to get a hold of you. If you don’t give in tow, then 1–I might need to thrash you!” 

Frankie’s words lacked any confidence so Emmett turned around and kicked him right in the calf, growling, “Get lost!” before he walked into the mansion. 

Frankie was fuming, hobbling in with his injured leg. ‘Why do I always end up getting hurt?‘ he grumbled inwardly.

As soon as Emmett entered the living room, he saw Yvette playing with a small silver handgun. The detailed engravings on it were clearly handcrafted, and it looked quite pricey. 

Emmett walked over, lowered his head and said, “Yvette, Mr. Chavez has already left.” 

Yvette casually put the gun on the table, crossed her legs, and gave Emmett a subtle, almost mocking smile. She just stared at him silently. 

In this quiet atmosphere, Frankie limped into the living room. He was about to complain when he saw Yvette and Emmett’s expressions and immediately decided to keep quiet. 

“Things didn’t look good… Did Emmett upset Yvette?‘ wondered Frankie as he quietly sat to the side, glancing between Emmett and Yvette. 

After a while, Emmett looked up at Yvette’s expressionless face and gave in to the pressure. ‘I can’t stand Yvette staring at me silently like this… he sighed inwardly. 

He explained Jeremiah’s reason for returning to Betrico. “Yvette, Mr. Chavez went back to Betrico because Yelena reported to the higher–ups…” 

Yvette gave an eerie, cold chuckle. “Did she say I was colluding with Spaunia pirates?” Emmett’s silence confirmed Yvette’s guesses as Yvette continued coldly, “And that I hit her too?” 

This time he nodded, looking grave. “Yvette, Yelena is accusing you of colluding with pirates and intentionally hurting her.” He sighed inwardly, ‘Yelena has a legitimate military rank, so if she insists Yvette attacked her, managing the situation won’t be easy. 

‘If news of this gets out in Betrico, who knows what kind of rumors will circulate about Yvette?‘ 

Before Yvette could say anything, Frankie slammed the table and shouted, “Is Yelena nuts? What does Yvette knowing pirates have to do with her? If she hadn’t acted up, would Yvette have hit her?”
