Camden had originally braved his way here to seek justice for Yelena. Before seeing Jeremiah, he still had some confidence, but now, upon seeing him walk into the conference room, he lacked the courage to even make eye contact. 

Yelena’s eyes brightened with a sense of longing when she saw Jeremiah. However, her gaze quickly darkened, filled with resentment. The image of Jeremiah watching her heartlessly being humiliated by Yvette in Spaunia lingered in her mind, a memory she could never shake off. 

Jeremiah confidently strode to the central seat and sat down. As soon as he took his seat, the others followed suit, returning to their positions. The room fell into a heavy silence. 

Jeremiah sat in the central seat, his gaze dark and expressionless. His chiseled features exuded a cold, stern aura. As long as Jeremiah remained silent, the other officials present for the hearing dared not speak. 

Jeremiah’s cold gaze landed on Camden and Yelena, then swept over the others in the conference room. His voice was calm as he spoke. “Let’s begin.” 

The three simple words made everyone in the room shiver. Jeremiah’s aura was as cold as ice. Only Tim calmly took a sip of coffee, unaffected by the intense atmosphere. 

A middle–aged man stood up from the left side of the room. He was the officer specifically assigned to handle Yelena’s case. Due to Yvette’s special status, the higher–ups decided not to let Betrico Police Station handle it; instead, they sent a designated official. 

After all, Yvette was also an Interpol officer, apart from being the future matriarch of the Chavez family. Betrico Police Station lacked the authority to handle such a case internationally 

The middle–aged man, Joshua Zahn, picked up the medical diagnosis report, proving that Yelena had sustained serious injuries. Everyone in the room also had a copy of the hospital’s diagnosis report in front of them. 

Joshua seriously addressed Jeremiah and the rest of the people in the room, “Mr. Chavez, this is the diagnostic report issued by the hospital after Ms. Lynch returned from Spaunia. Her body did indeed suffer severe injuries, leaving irreversible damage. 

“Ms. Lynch promptly filed a lawsuit with the relevant authorities, and the defendant is your fiancée, Ms. Zeller. 

“Given Ms. Zeller’s position as an Interpol officer, the special nature of this case requires that we first hold a mediation session here in the First Military District before it is officially filed. May I ask, Mr. Chavez, if your fiancée can attend?” 

Joshua knew perfectly well that Yvette had no intention of attending the meeting. Otherwise, she would have shown up by now, but he had no choice but to follow the formal procedure and ask anyway. 

Jeremiah sat in his chair, his fingers flipping through the diagnosis report in front of him. His eyes were as cold as ice, his lips curling into a faint, mocking smile. 

Yvette hadn’t laid a hand on Yelena at all, but the very next day after Yelena returned to Betrico, she was able to produce such a diagnosis report. Yelena was truly willing to harm herself just to frame Yvette. 

Yelena was fully aware of how the diagnosis report came about and knew exactly how she had gotten the injuries on her body. In front of Jeremiah, she felt extremely guilty. 

However, she desperately tried to hold it together and not show weakness. As long as she could firmly maintain that there was a relationship between Jeremiah and Yvette, then Jeremiah’s testimony would be invalid.

“I just want an apology and justice. Yvette’s behavior is outrageous. She’s insulting the military officers of Clusia. Does Mr. Jase Chavez know that your girlfriend was fraternizing with those pirates in Spaunia?” 

Yelena’s words echoed in the quiet room, and she was pleased to see the shocked expressions on everyone’s faces. 

She knew about Yvette’s status as an Interpol officer, so her goal was never to have Yvette imprisoned. Instead, she aimed to ruin her reputation completely, ensuring she could never marry into the Chavez family and become Jeremiah’s wife. 

If she couldn’t have Jeremiah, then she wouldn’t let someone like Yvette, a woman who appeared out of nowhere, take him. Yvette wasn’t worthy of someone like Jeremiah. Only she, Yelena, was truly fit to be with him.
