Sherry grimaced irritably before approaching John.

John remained seated gracefully on his throne and looked at her like a monarch toying with its subjects.

Shannon remained seated as well with an unchanging expression although the look in her eyes seemed to have dimmed a little.

Sherry walked mechanically. She hardly spared so much as a glance at both of them the entire time. She approached the table with a pot of tea in her hand and poured its contents into a teacup, then she took the cup and handed it to John.

He took the cup and seemed to intentionally brush his fingers against the back of Sherry‘s hands.

Sherry grimaced and shot a look at him, but he smirked coyly and proceeded to sip his tea candidly.

She rolled her eyes and silently muttered curses at this detestable man!

Meanwhile, Shannon, who was sitting right there the entire time, was watching their interaction and clenched

her hands into fists.

That was when John suddenly looked at her.

Shannon quickly formed the same practiced smile that was full of warmth and tenderness.

John asked her, “Did you go to the event my mother held this afternoon?”

Shannon answered, “I did. I attended to the guests along with Julie. Everything proceeded very smoothly, and the guests were very delighted to be invited.”

John nodded.

That was when Celine entered with a cart filled with food.

Sherry darted a look at her.

Celine gave her a glance and signaled for her to help with setting the food on the table.

Sherry was more than glad to do so since this was a chance for her to get away from John.

It was a very scrumptious dinner with a wide variety of food; there were seven dishes in total.

Sherry gulped as she set the food on the table.

Once everything was ready, John and Shannon approached the dining table and sat down.

Sherry and Celine quickly moved to the side.
