Chapter 1451
Carl leaned closer toward Sherry and asked with a giant smile, “Sherry, is there any kind of grudge between the two of you?”
“Not yet so far.”
Carl looked at Julie angrily stomping away, then he asked in an inexplicable tone, “Then why were you so harsh toward her? It looked like the veins on her face were going to pop.”
Sherry took a sip of wine and stated boldly, “I just gave her the taste of her own medicine. I wasn’t expecting such a reaction from her either.”
At least she was not as aggressive toward Julie as Madam
Stockton was during the last house party. Still, it looked like this approach of pretending to not know Julie at all had a stronger effect than she initially expected.
Carl merely smiled at her answer, then he suddenly caught something from the corner of his eyes. Again, he leaned into Sherry and asked, “Sherry, there’s been a few people who have been staring at you since you came in here. Do you know them by any chance?”
Sherry asked curiously, “Where?”
Carl informed, “At your three o’clock.”
Sherry glanced in that direction.
Her eyes quickly met the combination of Janine,
Matthew, and Jake sulking by the corner.
They knew she saw them as well.
A faint mark of disdain surfaced on Sherry’s face. She quickly turned away and took another sip of wine while stating, “I don’t know them.”
Carl seemed intrigued by this.
That was when several people approached the duo.
Sherry rose suddenly. “Carl, deal with them for me, I need to make a run to the toilet.”
She recognized these men as the ones who accused her of being a thief at the house party last time. She was not in the mood nor did she have the patience to put on a polite appearance for their entertainment.
“Alright, go ahead.” Carl gently tapped her head as he said, “Don’t wander too far, and make sure you don’t take too long.”
Sherry gave him a look, then she headed toward another remote section of the venue.
