Julie was beside her when the call ended. She asked, “Mother, what’s wrong? What did Queenie say? Are they staying outside?”

“Yeah. They are already resting.”

Julie carefully sized up Madam Stockton’s expression. She furrowed her brows and said, “Why didn’t John say anything about it?”

“Hmph! John is bedazzled by that woman again. Of course, she’s badmouthing me in front of my son!”

“I’m sure she won’t, Mother. Even if Sherry did say something, John is still your son, your own blood. He won’t abandon you.”
