Sherry sat beside the bed for a while. She wanted to see Caprice, but the girl was with the man.

She had no idea if the man was still mad at her, and if she took the risk to go out, it might exacerbate things. Therefore, all she could do was hide in the room.

Back in the living room, Caprice had just finished a bag of snacks.

John wiped her mouth and asked, “Do you want more?”

Caprice shook her head and then looked in the direction of the bedroom.

John’s gaze shifted. He asked, “Caprice, what are you looking at?”

She said with protruded lips, “Why isn’t Mommy coming out?”

He was silenced.

Caprice was obviously upset by her mother’s absence. “Daddy, why did you bully Mommy?”

He said with a smile, “Daddy did not bully Mommy. I’m just joking with her.”

She furrowed her tiny brows. She pondered and said, “Then, can you not joke with her again?”

John’s eyes flickered. He then curled his lips and said, “Alright, Daddy knows what to do.”

Caprice immediately widened her lips into a smile.

He hugged her with a smile. “Are you sleepy now? Why don’t we go to bed?”

“I want to listen to Mommy’s stories.”

A momentary silence later, he said, “Okay.” He carried the girl up and headed to Sherry’s room. He knocked but there was no answer.
