Chapter 1595
Julie choked on her words for a moment and said, “John, it’s Mother…”
The man frowned. His tone sounded anxious when he said, “Mother? What happened to her?”
Julie cried and continued, “Mother got into a car crash. She went after Sherry and somehow crashed into a tree. She’s still inside the ER, and it has been two hours now.”
John’s handsome face turned cold and suspicious. He gulped and asked in a hoarse voice, “Which hospital?”
Back in the corridor outside the ER room, Julie stood at the corner further away while making the call.
After that, she kept her phone and returned to the entrance of the ER where Queenie was sitting on the bench quietly.
Julie sat down beside her and glanced at Sherry who was sitting further away. She said to Queenie, “Queenie, I just called John.”
Queenie looked at her. Even Sherry, who had been squatting for a while, turned to her.
Julie said, “He just got out of the plane and he’s on his way here.”
Queenie nodded and hummed a reply in a sobbing tone.
Sherry continued to squat numbly. The anxiety in her chest grew stronger. She felt helpless and terrible as if she was hung over some sharp icicles and had a fire burning beneath her feet. She covered her head and continued waiting.
Seconds turned into minutes, and minutes into hours.
Some time later, just when Sherry was about to lose consciousness, a set of familiar footsteps arrived. The footsteps made her heart pound.
She looked up and saw the man coming closer to her in his handsome black suit.
His handsome face was void of the usual kindness and gentleness. Only a grim frostiness could be seen on his expression.
Sherry helped herself up by holding onto the wall.
Then, the doctor said with a heavy tone, “Master Stockton, Ms. Stockton, we’ve tried our best. Madam Stockton suffered a terrible concussion, and the odds of her waking up again are slim.”
Sherry was shaken when she heard the doctor. She saw John’s slender figure freeze and his expression turned horribly cold.
The atmosphere froze for a few seconds.
Queenie cried as she asked, “Are you saying that my Mom won’t wake up again?”
The doctor sighed. “I’m afraid so. We tried our best, so please be prepared for the worst.” He then left with the nurses.
A while later, the unconscious Madam Stockton was wheeled out of the ER.
Queenie broke down in tears by the bed while Julie tried to calm her down. John was petrified like a statue.
