Chapter 1624
Julie took a deep breath and strode into Madam Stockton’s room.
There was only one lamp on in the room, and the windows were shut tight. No one outside could see what was happening inside.
Caprice should have left with Queenie, so only Madam Stockton was alone in the room. She had the oxygen mask over her face and she looked paler, seemingly weaker than before.
Julie went closer to her and looked at her.
“Mother, don’t blame me. I am doing this for your own good.” She bent over and continued with a vicious. grin, “Rather than hanging on a thread, why don’t I send you to the afterlife? Am I right?”
As soon as her words subsided, she put on a pair of rubber gloves and stripped the oxygen mask off Madam Stockton’s face. Her hands were slightly shaking while she held the oxygen mask in the air. Her eyes stared at Madam Stockton.
After a while, nothing changed. Madam Stockton looked as pale and weak as before, but there were no signs that she had passed.
Some confusion and hesitation later, Julie lifted her hand to Madam Stockton’s nose to check if she was still breathing.
The moment her finger got close to the nose, Madam Stockton, who should be unconscious, opened her eyes and stared at her.
Julie’s hand shook, and her eyes widened.
“Argh!” she screamed. She nervously tossed the oxygen mask on the floor and staggered backward in fear. Her face turned pale as she stared at the awakening Madam Stockton in horror.
What happened? Should Madam Stockton not be in a comatose state? Why would she open her eyes?
Just when Julie thought she was having an illusion, Madam Stockton said, “What are you doing to me, Julie?” She sounded hoarse but frosty.
