Ada could no longer stay quiet. She said, “Carl, even if her ex-husband is Master Stockton, she used to be married! She’s out of your league!”

Carl’s gaze turned cold.

John turned to Ada with a vicious grin. “Who might this be?”

Maybe Carl’s frosty gaze scared her, or maybe because she was afraid of John’s vicious smile, Ada immediately averted their gazes.

Anne threw a warning glare at her before she said to John, “Master Stockon, she’s my brother’s daughter. My brother and his wife rarely have the time to educate her. Please forgive her impoliteness.”
