When Jaired heard the commotion outside, he jumped and kicked the door open without a second thought. There, he found Andrew sprawled on the floor.
"Damn it! Andrew!" he shouted, but Andrew was beyond responding.
Jaired rushed him to the hospital, where they found out Andrew had a stomach bleed from too much drinking and a head injury that nearly took his life. The doctors worked tirelessly through the night to save him.
By the time the Clements family gathered at the hospital, most were silent, except for Desiree, who was fuming and taking it out on Aubree.
"It's all because of that home-wrecker! If she hadn't come into our lives, Andrew wouldn't be like this!" Desiree spat, her anger palpable. "Now she's out there shamelessly flirting with someone younger in broad daylight!"
Exhausted from her rant, Desiree finally took a seat. Jaired, standing nearby, stayed quiet the whole time. Emotions were a mystery to him, and he had no idea what went wrong between Andrew and Aubree.
The next morning came, but Andrew still hadn't woken up, even though the doctors had predicted he would. The Clements family grew more anxious, bringing in the doctor for another check-up.
"The patient doesn’t want to wake up," the doctor explained. "He’ll wake when he’s ready. You all should try talking to him more."
Desiree burst into tears, lamenting how her grandson's fate seemed so cruel, leaving him in such a state. The doctor reassured her, "Desiree, Mr. Clements is healthy; he just doesn’t want to face reality. Maybe he’s seen something beautiful in his dreams, and real life is too hard to accept, so he stays in his dream. Only when he lets go of that dream will he wake."
Hearing this, the rest of the Clements family began to suspect that this had everything to do with Aubree. Enraged, Desiree demanded, "Find Aubree and bring her back! She needs to be by Andrew’s side! If he doesn’t wake up, it’ll be on her!"
Marissa, standing among them, knew all too well that this was about Aubree. Only her return could bring Andrew back. Indeed, Andrew’s dream was filled with memories of Aubree.
In his dream, they were back in the cozy house they once shared, with Aubree always preparing meals for him. Back then, he found it annoying and rarely answered her calls, but now, reliving those moments, he missed them dearly.
He opened the door and saw Aubree waiting for him, just as he remembered. The food on the table was cold, and she had dozed off with her head resting there. Andrew approached her quietly and wrapped her in a hug.
